Hardware & Software

1. Final CutThis was used during the production of our editing phase, for the final trailer.

It is a piece of software, which enables splicing/cuts to be juxtaposed alongside soundtrack and visuals. There are also additional settings

including slow motion and volume control, which benefits the production more so, in allowing more professional, in depth practicality

2. YouTubeThis is a recurring feature during the project, used predominantly for

inspiration and guidance regarding soundtrack, trailer analysis and editing. It is a public domain website, which allows for multiple viewings of music

streaming, TV, Video and Film; utilized to understand the conventions of a trailer (teaser and theatrical.)

3. PhotoshopAgain a piece of software employed in the production stages of our project,

in order to create distribution items including poster and magazine covers. These feature a wide range of elements from toning and

saturation, to applied filters, which enhance the aesthetics of the product.

4. WeeblyDominant throughout our project, in order to display the work of our

production, Weebly is a media website, used to present blog posts regarding a specific theme/subject. This has helped further increase the

feedback and analysis during both phases within the project; to understand the effect of technology and how it has influenced our work.

5. PreziA form of presentation software which allows easier access into specific

elements regarding our work. This has been utilized to portray our shooting schedule and comparison of trailers; a useful device in alternating the ways

in which our planning stage is projected

6. Da FontA more vital tool in creating various font types, during the production of our

poster and magazine covers. It has been incorporated into the trailer itself, as an influence on the titles: “The Flare” where the ‘Coalition font

was blended for a more Noir feel.

7. StoryBoard ThatA useful form of website material, which allowed an easier presentation in the

narrative. This animated technique was helpful in displaying the various scenes regarding our script, after establishing an initial story, where characters and locations were relevant throughout the production of

casting.

8. SlideShareSimilarly accommodating the illustration within our theme, this simple

structure enabled easier footage to be depicted, within inspirations from Art of the Title. It is an alternative component in relation to PowerPoint, where

videos and images alongside text can be displayed for simpler portrayal of a specific genre.

9. AudioNautixThis was also an element which proved useful in establishing inspirations and

ideas for our soundtrack. Various forms of audio were analysed to understand the significance of relating a score alongside visual imagery of the narrative. This is a piece of software which develops composition and

sound factors, present in establishing a clearer idea of creation in the production stage.

10. Art of the TitleThe subject within this area, concentrates on the importance of titles within a

production, and the effect it can have on the overall impression of a film/trailer. Influences from ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘Memento’ were established

subsequently before the construction of our tagline and text. The website includes a range of titles which provide information on a set theme.

11. PowtoonAnother form of presentation software, where cartoons can be set aside text and imagery in portraying relevant information. This was utilized as a factor

regarding inspiration and audience feedback, after the initial survey analysis.

12. Camera (DLSR and Sony HD)These items/pieces of equipment were essential during the practical side of

our production. Alongside the various types, our main feature focused on the Sony HD camera, which reflected a more effective demonstration of

the narrative; providing clearer footage and cleaner shots.

13. GaragebandHaving a similar effect on our audio, was the software regarding creation and

composition of our own music. This was used as a familiar tool, which featured multiple tracks to work alongside any ideas established concerning

the juxtaposition of image and soundtrack.

14. iTunesProvided as an additional source where audio could be stored, iTunes was relevant to our production, as it allowed for quicker, more fluid transitions

and downloads upon the editing of our trailer.

15. Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint etc.)

As an auxiliary tool in presenting various types of work, this software has been utilized in portraying pieces during our production, to be much clearer in relation to the significance of distribution and marketing ideas. It was a

supplementary component during inspiration and depiction of the theme/intended genre, before the eventual production.

16. Mac/PCThis has proved as the most beneficial factor, as it was used in everyday production design and utilization during both phases of our project. It was a recurring feature, implemented for media proposals towards all types of

purposes, from downloads, to editing and research.

17. TripodAgain an element useful during the practical stage of our production, this piece of equipment was vital for more unsettled filming sessions and more

fluid transitions during the introduction of our trailer. Here various assortments of establishing and location shots were refined, as an increase towards

aesthetics, improving the quality with steadier shot types.

18. LiveTypeAnother piece of software, comparable to Da Font, where text can be

manipulated and transitioned into alternative mannerisms concerning text design. These featured amongst the final project, which displays a more Noir

theme, and increased quality of graphology, towards the title itself, and “Coming Soon” declaration.

19. Survey MonkeyA more reliable source in creation of our own, distinctive survey which relates

to the initial themes we set out to portray. This is an effective piece of software which allows for supplementary querying of factors concerning the production, where feedback can prove vital in establishing similar

conventions and micro aspects in relation to the final piece.

20. Sound CloudThe final tool of audio software, incorporated into the trailer, which constructs

an outset mood/tone introducing the film. The copyright free soundtrack “Wasteland” was implemented, which features common elements of climax

and tension, in creating ascension in tension and atmosphere. This helps build on the Noir/Thriller theme further, allowing instant access to the sub-

genre.
