What Kind of media institution might

distribute your media product and why?

PRODUCTION COMPANY

The production company for my thriller film is CANDI Studios. CANDI Studios is a very small independent company as it’s the production company of the college, and every short film that is produced here should have it as their production company.

DISTRIBUTION COMPANY

The distribution company for my thriller film is Gold Gate Film. It is a made up distribution company that we made for the short film so it is an extremely small independent company.

WHY ARE THEY SUITABLE TO DISTRIBUTE THE FILM

First of all, because these companies are small, we don’t require a lot of money to distribute the film.

If we were going for a UK release I’d try to get a budget from companies such as BFI, Lottery, BBC or even private investors. (budgets of around 40million max and as low as 1million.) Also, free social media like Facebook pages to gain peoples attention, but also have advertisement on Youtube, newspaper, street posters.

Also I mostly like to keep it locally or just released around Britain at the start of the release.

CANDI Studios has a cinematic release, DVD release and collection of other short films and music videos on Vimeo.

In Britain, we rely on film festival because at film festivals if someone likes the film they will decide to help be the distributor for the film. Digital screening is cheaper as it’s widely available on DVD and Cinema, there is also TV release on BBC, Film 4 and can also be seen on online video companies such as Netflix, Love Film, and Amazon.
