EVALUATION QUESTIONSQUESTION 3

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

Plot Base Creation

I believe my production of a interesting and flowing plot line has improved greatly. This is because last the start of the year, we created a chase sequence which had a very basic storyline with nothing much but just a stalking setting. Which was great but didn’t really get the audience involved as we tried to emphasise the sequence though a jump scare which really wasn’t that scary.

The chase sequence just involved that man stalking another man which was supposed to create a great suspenseful situation. Which we did, but not in the way we had intended to in the end. As the music, once again played a large part in the making of the film as it proved the very eerie and suspenseful tone to the sequence. The music actually saved the sequence from getting too cheesy.

However, our Thriller opening actually had a interesting and convincing storyline which created the correct amount of suspense, mystery and involvement of the audience which we intended to create. This was largely due to the fact of the simple but effective plot we had created.

Editing

My editing though out the year had greatly developed throughout the project this year. This is because at the start of the year, we had just learned how to use Final Cut Pro so I had little experience.

Although, as the year progressed, I was able to experience more and could create very effective sequences especially those which involved suspense and an eerie atmosphere. Which is what we eventually created in the end as we got a good mark as well as great feedback from the class. Which conveys how how we intended to create a sequence that would conform to the stereotypical thriller codes and conventions. Which was largely due to the editing that had improved though out the year.

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

Costuming

The physical appearance which we tried to present in order to convey certain ideology of thriller conventions had greatly improved thought the year.

In our preliminary task as well as our chase sequence, we had very dull clothing. This is because at the time, we didn’t take into account our clothing so we just wore we had on, but not until the thriller opening in which we greatly discussed in oder to conform to certain thriller codes.

The use of binary opposite clothing in our costuming, to represent one of the characters Beamer as living a hard life of crime for most of his life, wearing all black. While the other character wears all white to show he is new to the life of crime and inexperienced.

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

Use of Mise-en-Scene

I believe my use of lighting had greatly improved though out the year, especially during the preliminary task. As the eerie suspenseful mode was set though the low key lighting.

However, the low key lighting used in our in the car to show the character Beamer’s dark thoughts. Was a great use of lighting as to conform to the dark tone of the Mise-en-scene.

My use of Mise-en-scene greatly improved throughout the year as the first chase sequence; we never really had anything which would be used to conform to the suspenseful Mise-en-scene other than camera shots and music. But in our Thriller opening sequence; there are various items which I purposely placed such as the coconut tree air freshener, as well as the cigarette in the sequence which were used to conform to the stereotypical thriller genre.
