How does your poster, movie magazine and trailer link?

I believe that the mise en scene in both my movie poster and magazine front cover are equally efficient at portraying and conforming to the gangster crime genre.Characters:With regards to magazine front cover I decided to us the antagonist of my movie trailer and to portray that he is the killer and dangerous I used a handgun and the suit which has become synonymous with gangsters and hired hitmon with my source of inspiration being the criminals in Tarantino movies. This was also shown in my movie trailer.I made sure to dress Fillip up as a detective by making him dress up in formal wear with a white shirt red tie and a trench coat and to show his corrupt side not only do I show him talking with the criminal boss but I show him with a mask and gun breaking into the house in search of the money and kidnapping bens wife. With bens character I made sure to that I showed that cat and mouse chase aspect of the film in my poster as he is in a running stance while in my trailer this was shown in the scene after exposition with ben running and hiding from Francois.Setting: In my poster there is a city landscape in the upper section and the London setting is also shown in my trailer from the very start as the crime scene was shot on a bridge and shows the canary wharf buildings in the background which have become an iconic staple of London in many movies. To show differences in classes I shot some of the chase sequences in a council estate building to shoe urban areas of London and the importance of this money to Ben as a way out of this world.Iconography: The main prop used in my trailer was the bag full of money which can be seen in my movie poster and trailer from the very start in which ben discovers the crime scene and then decides to take the money. The blood splatter in my movie poster is meant to represent the the violence and death that will occur in them movie and this is shown with the drug deal gone wrong in which there are dead bodies covered in blood and the scene where Francois kills ben’s friend.

FILM USPThe idea of Lucky/ Unlucky civilian who discovers a bag full of money but ends up being chased by a group of very dangerous criminals is not entirely original as the inspiration for this came from the movies like No country for Old Men and True Romance. What separates our film from these is that we decided to us an Asian mafia as they tend to be under represented in movies and in the movies that we got our inspiration from the criminals where either Italian American or Hispanic.

The fact that the head of the criminal organisation is a female is very uncommon as the gangster crime genre tends to be directed at a male audience and was created in a era where women's rights were limited and so these powerful and aggressive roles where only given to men. Although there are some examples of female crime bosses such as the one in Dredd and iconic criminals such as Bonnie in Bonnie and Clyde this is a very unusual role for a female to play in this genre. The location is another significant unique selling point as although there are many gangster films and there are some that are set in the UK such as snatch, lock stock and two smoking barrels or even layer cake yet my movie is much more racially diverse and does not focus on cockney gangsters but instead on different racial gangs as established in the drug deal gone wrong,

The fact that this is a London setting is another unique selling point for foreign viewers since most gangster crime films are set in the united States. We decided to take inspiration from London crime movies like Ill manors which was filmed in East London and so helped us gather inspiration of types of locations that we could use to film at.

The idea of a corrupt detective is another unique selling point for this movie as it adds another villain to the mix although the idea came from the departed or the Chinese original infernal affairs.

What marketing package would you use?

The movie poster would be a main form of attracting people to watch the movie as it could be placed at bus stops and inside magazines and newspapers. The poster clearly identifies the genre and would does not require much attention to identify what audience it is attracting due to the props visible and the colour scheme to enhance the bloody background.

The movie magazine would be a effective way of attracting cinema fans to watch the movie and through this would come movie critique reviews that would also persuade audiences to watch the movie.

The trailer would be promoted on the movie website along side still images and movie wallpapers for smartphones( movie poster) or computer. The trailer could also be located on youtube and would appear as a suggestion on channels related to cinema and trailers.

Social media would play an essential role in the promotion of our movie as not only would it allow us to find at attract our target audience by having the film site or page that would be linked to other activates or interests that they may have such as liking a gangster film on a Facebook page and having the Birds Of Prey page appear as suggestion.

Making a twitter and Instagram page would allow for mass spreading in order to create awareness and using still images or actor clips would help keep audiences interested.
