Evaluation Q7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? Looking back I think we have made a big improvement from our preliminary to the main task. In our preliminary since it was our first time filming a continuity sequence we weren’t as experienced as when we were filming our main task. For example the way we filmed the shots have improved, in the preliminary our 180 degree shot was shaky and even though we used a variety of shots, I think in our main we experimented just a little bit more. Also I think we used more locations in our main then the preliminary which was just shot in one room, whereas the main was shot in different rooms of the characters house as well as outside. Furthermore we used more props in our main and this as a result made the sequence more aesthetically pleasing. Also during our preliminary some of the equipment was incorporated into the frames for example the boom pole. However in our main since we were more experienced with the equipment that didn’t happen. We also learnt how to use more dialogue, for example the main task had more than the preliminary and I think that keeps the audiences attention more as they are trying to follow the story. I also think that during the main task the voice projection was louder and the expression of the character was better than the preliminary. Lastly I think we have learnt to experiment with sound more, in our main task we incorporated silence near the end, this is a very common thriller convention and it keeps the audience watching as they want to know what is going to happen next. It also gives more variety and gives the audience a chance to hear the soundtrack more. Overall I am pleased with our main task, as I think it shows how we developed a lot when it comes to filming and it also helps us for better production decisions in the future.
