How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Music Video – 9 CrimesMy A2 music video looks at certain themes including romance and

loneliness. The narrative within this video explains the type of relationship between the two artists: mainly looking at how they are beginning to live separate lives while being together and showing that even when they can leave, they always end up back with each other.

EffectivenessAs a whole, I believe that my music video is effective in illustrating

the simple narrative I have chosen. This is because I have used the micro-technical elements in a way that has them all link together to become one piece and one message. Through the use of the filters, I have helped the audience understand the tone of the message that I am portraying, which allows them to understand the narrative a lot quicker – which is helped even further by the message given through the lyrics. I also believe the narrative clips are effective in delivering the correct message because of the acting and their direction that was given during filming.

However, if I were to film this again, I would have tried to include more scenarios where we see the relationship struggling rather than having a long intro to the relationship through the first minute of the video so that the message is a lot more clear.

Ancillary TextsMy first ancillary text is the digipak which consists of two disks (a CD and a DVD including my music video), as well as a front cover with two insert covers and the back cover showing the albums tracklist.

The second ancillary text I created is the promotional poster for the album ‘Sleep don’t weep’

EffectivenessI feel that both my digipak and promotional poster

for my music video are effective in the way that they have followed the conventions I had previously researched and they also carry a house style throughout the three products in terms of colours and the main artist.

If I was to create my digipak and promotional poster again, I would decide to take more images of the main artist so that I had more of a variety available.
