Evaluation. How does your media product

represent particular social groups?

Images:

• The main images that I have used in my magazine are of the two girls from the ‘girl band’ that features as my cover story. The fact that they are both girls would appeal to both a male and female target audience as girls may look up to them and boy may be attracted to them so therefore decide to read the magazine. The girls both wear make up and fashionable clothes so would attract a female social group that look up to them and wish to look/dress like them. • I have also used images that I myself have taken at previous gigs

and concerts. This would attract the audience that fit into the genre of my magazine – indie. A social group that are interested in music may also be drawn to the magazine because of these images as they would be appealing to them.

Colour:

• The main colours used in my magazine are grey, black and white with red and yellow to create emphasis to the more monotonous colours. This represents the social group that fits in with the genre of my magazine which is indie. It make the magazine more appealing to them and instantly portray the fact that it is an indie music magazine. • The yellow and red add to the magazine by making it

more feminine and appealing to the female audience. As they are the colours that make the two females standout they are important and reflect the two featuring artists.

Features:

• Using the brush tool and changing opacity I created puffs along the left hand third of the page. This allows me to inform the reader what will feature in the magazine and drawn them into reading it. They are important features of a magazine and appear in many different magazines that I researched.• People who enjoy entering and

winning competitions would be interested in this feature as they are instantly drawn to a competition that features in the magazine.

Article:

• My article is an interview of the two artists featured on my front cover. It allows the audience to hear what they have to say first hand and represent music lovers who would be interested in the girl band who are the main focus of my magazine.
