• This picture from our opening sequence fits the conventions of a thriller film. This fits the conventions of a thriller film because it portrays a mystery person wearing a black hoody however we can only see the back of them. The mystery person is wearing black and black symbolizes an air of mystery, the hidden, the secretive and the unknown which is what this character fits into. Another way this fits its convention is; we cannot see the persons appearance leaving the audience to wonder who this person could be creating

ambiguity. This also creates an enigmatic scene as we know this person is a villain who needs to be unveiled.

• This picture fits the thriller convention as it’s the very first scene and the character is running in the dark. She is running through a dark corridor and darkness absorbs negative energy which creates a gloomy atmosphere. This portrays her running away from danger which automatically informs the audience it is a thriller film. We can also tell from her face that she is not at all content with her current situation and that something drastic must have occurred creating ambiguity as well as an enigmatic scene. This creates mystery as the audience are not aware of why she's actually running which engages the audience even more as it leaves them thinking of possible reasons why.

• This part of the scene fits the conventions of a thriller film because of the fact that Angelina the actor falls over. The reason why this has conventions of a thriller because of the fact that when she fell over this is seen in most thriller films, where the main actor is just about to get caught by the antagonist and falls over in a bid to run away from him. Just after this scene the camera cuts off and all you can hear is the antagonist footsteps almost getting closer and closer making the viewer feel that suspense which is one of the most important things in thriller film, again leaving the viewer

• Another way in which the film that we created has codes and conventions of a thriller film is through the use of the black and white shots. The black and white shots allow for the reader to understand what is going on but more importantly creates a sense of suspense and tension because of the exchanges between the shots with colour and the shots that are in white and black. The black and white shots creates suspense because now the audience must find clues about what has made the actor Angelina so terrified and frantic and why she is running so fast.

• This picture from our opening sequence fits the conventions of a thriller as we can’t see his face making it a mystery. The fact that we knew he was the protagonist and expected a reveal, but didn’t get to see his face properly creates an enigmatic scene. This makes the audience sit on the edges of their seat and they are desperate to know who he truly is and why he is doing it. The fact that we suddenly ended it and didn’t provide the audience with anymore information definitely enhances their engagement.

• This picture of her face fits the conventions of a thriller film as we can see she is distressed therefore it has to be either a thriller or a horror, definitely not a comedy. We can see something bad has happened to her and therefore concerns the audience as well. Also, close up shots are common in thriller films and are used to captivate the fear of the antagonist.
