As my research showed me what people would like in a Hip Hop magazine here are different ranges or choices in colour, which have the purpose to attract a specific age group and gender.

Bold and bight colours used to attract the right audience, colour scheme setting the mood of the magazine.

I have used an ethnic minority kind of character to challenge stereotypes.

I have used more than one image using levels and adjustments to create a modern effect which highlights the importance of this whole page.

I have added in more information on a specific person to address the gossip in the magazine to my audience appropriately.

How does your media product represent particular social groups? How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Hip Hop developed through culture, it is Hip Hop developed through culture, it is based on looping, rapping, free styling, based on looping, rapping, free styling, djing, scratching, sampling and beat djing, scratching, sampling and beat boxing.boxing.

The stereotypical social group for the genre The stereotypical social group for the genre is working class afro – Caribbean males, is working class afro – Caribbean males, ages normally vary between 16 – 24.ages normally vary between 16 – 24.

They are associated with wearing baggy They are associated with wearing baggy jeans, baseball caps which are worn jeans, baseball caps which are worn backwards, large t-shirts and loads of backwards, large t-shirts and loads of jewellery jewellery

Therefore, I have chose to continue this particular social group and genre whilst it expands into cultures and different ethnicities. This shows that my magazine is able to continue represent the genre and social group I have included into my produce. From the feedback in the questionnaires I got back, my feedback told me that this social group and this type of genre in my magazine was a popular demand.

My magazine represents the special group of Hip hop. My picture shows this as it includes

1) Latest trends in street/ urban fashion

2) Keen on showing attitude to show their popularity matters

3) Being unique with the way they are presented on products.

4) Showing clear confidence with specific poses.

5) Ethnicity matters as a minority of the black ethnicity type are mainly in hip hop.

How did you attract/address your audience? A reasonable price

Image dominating the page, close up emphasises a relation with the target audience

Large and bold masthead outlines its own importance as that is the title of the magazine. The outstanding view of this masthead also shows how much effort this magazine puts in in order to communicate with its readers.

Images shows of how the character’s dress code is according to today’s Hip Hop music genre.

This appropriate dress wear shows people how dress code is part of this genre.

The main colour scheme is red and black. This emphasises the vibrant and consistency of attraction to a specific target audience. Red and black are the majority of colours. This has a purpose of emphasising which genre this magazine is aimed at.

The bonus pages create a closer relation between the audience and - Music Express

The magazine having a bundle of bonus pages within the magazine is and extra way of appreciating audiences and other people.

The attitude of the star in the image is similar to normal Hip Hop magazines. This realism will attract people and make people feel familiar and close to this magazine.

The barcode also adds to the idea of realism because every normal magazine would have a barcode if it has a price, as well as the issue date and issue number to keep all the audiences updated and for them to make sure that they are not reading or viewing anything old or anything of the past but, to read the new magazine and get involved in the gossip and all the fun inside.

The return of a star includes exclusive gossip. Audiences love gossip because it is a main key thing a magazine will contain. Many people will buy or get a magazine wanting to know the latest updated news or any information regarding their stars. My magazine shows the correct people that it is aimed at them!

(cover)(cover)Preliminary cover Coursework final cover

Looking back at the preliminary task, I feel during the progression of it to the full product, I have learnt how to manipulate images so that they outline their own importance by dominating the page. As you can see, there is a difference in my preliminary cover and my final produce. They both have the difference of how the image is dominating the page. There is also a bit of a play around with the sell lines. For example on my full product I had learnt how to use drop shadow effects onto the sell lines or any other pieces of text like my masthead. The drop shadow effect helps the text contrast with anything else that is also noticeable for a good purpose. I also learnt that the image of the character has to have some sort of attitude for my genre, as my chosen genre was hip-hop this is why my final produce character shows the readers a bit of attitude to show realism when in comparison with real magazines. Changing the levels of pictures and the sizes or the way they are put in is another thing I have learnt. I have learnt that this is important because it has its own importance of playing the main key part of the magazine.

Looking back at the preliminary task, I feel during the progression of it to the full product, I have learnt how to make banners or the tittles of content pages outstanding. I learnt that to do this I need to chose specific font types, sizes and styles. I have also learnt how to place images in correct places in order to shape a perfect contents page according to the chosen genre I have picked up on. This also includes the key feature of realism as magazines with the same genre as me would have a similar kind of layout. I have also learnt that on this kind of contents page there should a similar if not the same kind of font choice because by doing this it shows the formality of the magazine.
