Cover 1What your intentions were when taking the photographs? My intentions when taking this photograph was to achieve a good low angle shot which showed the model’s clothing whilst clearly showing the skateboard’s graphic as it offers a good splash of colour which helps brighten the image even though the clothing is black. How the final image fulfils your intentions? The body language of the model further suits the theme of the magazine because he is about to drop into the ramp, this also serves as the image being an action shot. How the image is appropriate for the front cover? The image is appropriate for the front cover because it represents the theme and also the clothing clearly. The meaning created? The meaning which is evident throughout all of the covers is skating and skating locally at that. This image anchors this meaning by the clothing, props and location.

Cover 3What your intentions were when taking the photographs?Upon taking the picture for this cover, I wanted to very clearly show the clothing, model and skateboard to effortlessly represent the theme of the magazine and appeal to the target audience.

How the final image fulfils your intentions?I believe the photograph represents the theme as well as I wanted it to. The colours within the image including the clothing and prop are vibrant and catch the audience’s eye. The model’s body language further anchors the meaning as he looks completely comfortable on the board.

How the image is appropriate for the front cover?

The image is appropriate for the genre of magazine because the model is clearly on his skateboard about to drop in the ramp and begin skating . The image creates a subtle meaning of skating at night and being care free when it comes to cruising on your board - inspiring the audience to not be bothered by the time of day when skating.

The meaning created?

The meaning of the cover is created by all elements of the mise-en-scen and the theme of skating and skate fashion is anchored throughout the image.

Cover 3 How well the combination of image and text works? The text and image complement each other because the main item of clothing is white – that being the polo. Due to it being such a bright white, the text worked well being completely white.

The meaning created? The meaning created in the front cover is that of skating, skate fashion and also skating at night and this shows the audience that they should care less about skating when its dark. The main cover line is both the colour of his clothing and the colour of the masthead as this creates a good blend of colours and brings out the clothing tremendously.

The clothing appeals to the audience and so does the prop.Intentions Fulfilled? This cover fulfilled my intentions to show the clothing and theme as best as possible due to the colours.
