Camera

I like the variety of shots of scenery at the beginning as they are relatively strange shots like from the inside of a backseat, and from a moving car. I think that this is very effective in establishing a strange eerie setting with out actually giving anything away about the characters or storyline.

I really like the way we have a side view of the couple, as it leaves a quite impersonal feel, like the characters are not relatable at all.

I think that the close up shots work well as they look like they are from the couple point of view showing their relationship.

Mise En Scene

I personally love the contrast between the bright outside scenery and the cosy, dim lit kitchen where our main characters have their conversation. It shows how secluded their lives are, and how they haven’t been touched by the modern technology of todays society.

We included the smoking in this scene, as they are a couple stuck with 60’s values, and we felt it was an effective way of making them look older, and bring the audience back to the dasy when smoking was considered healthy.

Sound

The overwhelming soundtrack of choir style singing, creates a feeling of tension and unease over the whole scene.

As there is no other sound as all the clips have been muted, it is a main focus whilst the quick cuts are shown.

However the music gets quieter when the couple start talking which shows the importance of what they are saying which I think works well.

Editing

The quick cuts keep the pace fast and interesting. The rewind effect that is done on the smoke and footsteps shows

something unnatural is going on in what seems like a normal couples life.

I particularly like the high shot at the end, and the rolling transition, as it makes the shot look like a CCTV camera, showing the nature of what they are doing and how its something that needs to be hidden.
