  • 1. Evaluation: Understanding Of The Development Process Elise Daniels

2. These are examples of my preliminary task work. We had to create schoolmagazines on software known as Fireworks. Based on the development periodthe skills from my preliminary task have allowed me to improve significantlyand the create a more creative music magazine. 3. Process from preliminary task to main task -During my media AS course I have developed a range of skills from the preliminary task to the main task. From the beginning of the course my skills were very low, and I had little knowledge based on understanding how to use fireworks and Photo shop. Although the preliminary task did enable me to make progression developing my skills for the better. My first preliminary task involved creating a school magazine on a programme called fireworks. This basic task enabled me to then develop my skills. It allowed me to take a range of appropriate images, edit my text, change background colours, add texts and get to grips with working with the software, something I had not done before. I also then knew how to use the layerings, something I was not familiar with. Other preliminary tasks included manipulating pictures of a range of celebrities on Photoshop. The skills I gained from doing this was how to use the brush tools, spot healing tools, red eye removal, and background removing tool. These skills then allowed me to create my music magazine and helped me during the construction and development phase, as creating my magazine was based on using photoshop. 4. Planning and Research SkillsDuring the planning and research section I have used the internet andbrought a range of different magazine genres to produce myself with ideason creation of my own magazine. This allowed me to understand thestandards conventions of magazines and then allowed me to add my owncreativity. Instead of my making my magazine like every other magazine Iadded originality to my magazine by adding different conventions, bordersand unpredictable colour schemes for my genre of magazine. 5. Construction and Development SkillsTime was also allocated to take a range of pictures to experiment with shot distance, depth, mise en scene and lighting. This enabled me then to develop my own pictures during the construction and development phase and take the best images possible for my magazine. The Photo shop skills from the manipulation, during the preliminary task allowed me to edit my images appropriately. I then understood how to remove objects/add objects to my picture, remove red eye, remove blemishes/uneven skin tone and add a variety of colours e.g. black & white, change the vibrance/ contrast/brightness. This then helped me to make more creative images to suit my magazine genre and make it more interesting and professional. The construction and development phase has also gave me the skills to plan my work appropriately. Using my laptop and school network it has allowed me to write and draw plans for my magazine and script. This has given me a plan to stick to and allowed me to produce a fresh magazine. 6. This is my overall outcome of mymusic magazine. Its evident thatthe skills I have gained have allowedme to produce a more interestingand appealing magazine incomparison to my school magazine. 7. What Skills Will I Be Able To Take Into A2?The whole AS course has allowed me to express my eye for creativity and pickup a range of skills I did not possess before I began the course. When I start A2there are a range of skills I will be able to use. These include using software, e.g. Fireworks, Photo shop. This includesmanipulating pictures on the software and creating a variety of things. Otherskills include taking a variety of shots, E.g. Long shots, Close up, Mid shots,Extreme close up etch and the ability to successfully name shots. Other skillsinclude using my creativity to make my work more interesting and usingelectronic devices such as a range of cameras, props, computers, software etc.During my AS course I have also had opportunities to work with a range ofpeople. This has improved my team working skills as it has allowed people togive me feedback on my work and myself to give them feedback on their work. Also working together to ask for opinions and completing tasks which involvemore than myself. These are all appropriate skills I will be able to use in A2.
