How effective is the combination of your main
product and ancillary texts?
The trailer focuses towards the male demographic. The poster increases the focus to the male audience as well as the female
audience. The magazine cover aims towards more of a female audience. All three texts work together to appeal to both genders. Title is also unisex. Light colours.
Main Product and Ancillary Texts
How did you use new media technologies in the construction
and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Used to edit images for the magazine cover as well as the poster.
Limited access. Improve quality of images. Saving as a JPEG.
Adobe Photoshop
Used to produce the magazine cover. Used to produce the poster. Not necessarily an editing program as it is a
piece of software usually aimed towards web designers.
Limited effects Graphics were reduced. Saves as a bitmap.
Macromedia Fireworks
Used to edit footage. Changing sound levels. Allowed me to increase and reduce sound levels. For example, sound with
dialogue could be increased whereas sound without dialogue could be muted. Insert effects. Title frames.

Digital Video Camera
I used a Canon MD205 to capture moving images that would be suitable enough to put a trailer together.
Gridlines ensured I followed the rule of thirds. Poor lighting and sound in some situations.
I used a Nikon S3000 to produce still images of each actor.
Images were intended to be edited and positioned on the magazine cover as well as the film poster.
Some of the images produced seemed to be out of focus and pixelated.

Gender
I tried to gather a range of people from all ages and genders to try and identify how the film would be viewed amongst the public.
The feedback group were mostly male aged 15 and over, the target demographic
that the film is targeted at, to see whether they would respond to the film favourably.

What did you not like about the trailer?
The trailer seemed to relate to the audience through the use of characters as they were mostly favoured. Whereas the locations and lighting were much more unnoticeable, as evidenced by the lack of either positive or negative feedback.
It seems that the reviewers found more things which they did not like about the
trailer which had not been listed. However, the music is a strong source which people
seemed to disagree about. However, the disagreement about the music could be
down to the vastly differing tastes in music that people experience. However, this
would prove difficult as the song used was a current hit song and as mentioned
before, it’s hard to choose a song to please the whole audiences such varied taste.

What could be improved to the trailer?
The story was highlighted as the main point that could be improved which I suggest could be due to its simplicity and over usage of conventions that
could make it seem basic or generic. Perhaps allowing the plot to be
different and break conventions could alter this view. However, I feel this is of
no major concern as enough people enjoyed and understood the story to
want to see the film itself

What genre do you consider the trailer to be?
Comedy Drama Horror ThrillerRomance Action Animation Other
There seemed to be slight confusion when listing the actual genre of the film as it was a combination of the
two. The general feedback seems to favour more towards romance whereas comedy seemed to be
noticed slightly less.
They picked up on the comedy aspect very quickly as evidenced by
the large percentage who chose that, whereas the romance aspect was poorly identified. This could
mean that in the trailer I should've inserted more romantic shots and sections to properly establish the
romantic aspect.

In conclusion, after all the positive and negative feedback, I feel the 76 percept of people who stated that they would want to see the film as an illustration that I have succeeded in my trailer as I have established the genre and made it interesting enough that the majority of the target audience want to see the film itself.
There is a slight mix of answers when giving the film an age certificate, although the largest per cent of people generally seemed to believe the film should receive a 15 certificate, meaning that I have created content that can be seen as acceptable for my intended demographic.
