DOCUMENTARY AND RADIO ADVERT

Our documentary is similar to the radio advert because we used the same music, this therefore clearly links them together for the audience as the music they hear in the background of the radio advert is the same as the music used in the documentary. Soundbites are also used from the documentary in the radio advert, we decided to use 2 quotes from 2 of our experts (Gavin and Brenda). This also links the products together as we use direct quotes from the documentary in the radio advert, the audience may recognise the quote or the voice from the radio advert when watching the documentary. We decided to not use the same narrator that we used for our documentary for our radio advert as we thought that this would not be as effective as using two different voices, however this therefore does not link the products together as well as if we used the same narrator.

DOCUMENTARY AND DOUBLE PAGE SPREADFor the heading of our DPS we decided to use the title that we made for our documentary (a handwritten ‘Teens in Sport’ in gold, red and black), to do this we photoshopped the title out of the documentary and onto the DPS, this links the products together as they have the same title/heading. We also decided to use the idea of using crunched up paper on our DPS as we used crunched up paper for our stop animation for out statistics. To do this we found copyright free images of crunched up paper online and edited into the DPS, this therefore links the products together as they both include crunched up pieces of paper, the audience would be able to notice this running theme throughout the products. We also used screenshots from our documentary for our DPS, this links the products together extremely clearly for the audience as they would recognise certain images and people from the DPS in the documentary (we used one voxpop, an expert, the boxing gym, a ballet shoe and rugby players). We decided to use these images because they give the audience a better idea of the documentary as they are able to see the kind of shots we use and it gives them an insight into what we footage we used.

AUDIENCE FEEDBACK

After completing our audience feedback we found that the majority of the people who completed our questionnaire think that all of our products link together very well. When asking parents, they said that they could clearly tell that the radio advert was advertising that specific documentary and that the double page spread related to the documentary due to the images and the title. The teenagers also agreed that they could easily see that the products linked together due to the images on the DPS and the music used in the radio advert. Therefore it can be concluded that the combination of our main product and our ansilary texts is effective.
