The primary aim of my product is to promote the artist. Which I have done so through a variety of three ancillary products. A music video, a digipack and a magazine poster suitable for a mainstream audience. Throughout the three products I used similar source material such as flowers, colours, props and costumes in order to obtain the same iconography for each thus resulting in each product appearing the same and connoting the genre of pop. The use of iconography also helps to establish and promote the artist, as the theme used throughout her products will be recognised by her fans, giving the artist a recognisable image. The iconography used such as, flowers, costumes, leafs, colourful clothes, bright make up and quirky backgrounds all connote happiness, the pop genre and represent the age of the artist (17). This therefore appeals to her target audience of young adults aged 13-30.

Throughout all three products, the iconography remained the same. For example, the title of the album ‘Magic’ remains the same throughout the album packaging and the poster promoting the artist. The title ‘Fabrianne’ also performs this function as the ‘I’ is dotted with a love heart which portrays a girly personality and gives a individual style to the artist.

The characters facial expression and body language also remain the same throughout the products, this was to ensure the characters personality is also presented as girly, quirky and happy and therefore portraying a positive role model towards her younger fans.

The prop of flowers are used throughout out all three of the products. Flowers connote happiness, beauty, summer, colour and females. I used these props within my music video as I felt it was creative and an image I could use for all of the products, keeping an element the same so that the artist could be recognised from this ‘girly’ image. Thus making all three products effective by using similar media language.

Although I tried to vary the artists costumes, make up and hairstyles through the video – each image still portrayed the pop genre. For example, her hair was long and volumeised, her make up was bright and sassy and her costumes were elegant yet sexy at the same time, which appeals to the male audience.

The CD disk also had a round shape of a flower, which again connotes the artists ‘girly’ and ‘individual’ personality.

I then added official recorded labels logo onto the CD cover, the poster and the physical CD packaging. This gave the products a feel of professionalism and made the products seem ‘real’. I also attempted to gain permission for this by writing to the record label via email in order to avoid copyright laws, or laws against using their logo. However, I did not receive a reply.

I feel I was successful In completing this task to its full potential. When looking at the final products, the iconography remains the same and the artist is clearly recognised by the pop genre.
