Eva Green - interview 1. You are the daughter of a Swedish-born dentist and an Algerian-born actress. When you discovered you want to be an actress? I grew up in Paris and I’ve always appreciated my parent’s work. They made key French films in 1966, my father starring in Robert Bresson's "Au hasard Balthazar" (it was his only film) and my mother debuting in Jean-Luc Godard's "Masculin-feminin." I was interested in fantasy films as a child. The most notably was "Willow," which came out when I was 8. I was in love with Val Kilmer,with dark hair, he was quite bold and funny and sarcastic. All of this led me to study acting and music. 2. Camelot and Penny Dreadful are the only television series you appeared in. What appealed to you about Penny Dreadful series? There are a lot of mysteries, everything is surrounded by darkness. It also includes characters from literature like Dracula, Dorian Gray, Dr. Frankenstein and I’m playing a fictional character, Vanessa Ives, which is a kind of a rebellious character, at the time when women were very repressed. 3. How would you describe Vanessa Ives? I think she’s a very cool character, complex, hungry for life, wanting to explore everything, a strong woman. She is one of the most difficult characters I had to play, a challenge. 4. What can you tell me about season two? Theyre gonna get closer to a very beautiful relationship.5. After all this time playing tortured females, do you ever yearn for something frothy and light? Yes, I'd like to play a silly role, like comedy.

6. Do you believe in supernatural?There are forces, yes - I'm not religious but I believe there is something other. One of my friends is a psychic. She doesn't talk about it because people might think she's crazy but she has visions and has told me some interesting things about my own life."7. What scares you the most?Auditions! Lots of things frighten me: nasty people; ruthlessness in the world; oh and flying - I'm terrible at it, I'm very scared of heights.8. What you enjoy doing beside your work?"I go for long walks in the mountains, especially Switzerland. I've always loved mountains - I went to them with my family when young. The contact with nature makes me feel human. And pampering myself afterwards with a massage is the best treat,"
