EVA 5: Batteries, FGS, NOBLEd Nelan

Batteries:• original batteries are 14 years older than design lifetime.• new batteries are an improved design• EVAs 2 & 5

Batteries:• replacement batteries have passed Aliveness & Functional Tests

FGS2:• FGS2 was replaced due to failing LEDs on its star selector servos, which put guide star acquisitions at risk.

• Replacement FGS2 successfully passed it Aliveness and Functional Test

• We now have:• FGS3 (original)• FGS2 (new)• FGS1 (1997)

• fine lock acquisition of Internal Test Source (ITS)• demonstrates interferometer functions

• move AMA motors back• - 8 steps motor1• +8 steps motor2

• observed shift of ITS position verifies AMA functions

• test was a complete success.
