SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL
The University of Exeter is considered by many to be the best
university in the South-‐West of England and has one of the
highest National Student Survey rankings in the country. With
around 17,000 students, it is seen to provide an excellent
environment to develop both personal and academic skills in
a vibrant international context. The University of Exeter is
known for its excellent academic reputation and sporting
achievements, and with its wide range of sports clubs, caters
for all interests and abilities.
Exeter University Sailing Club is one of largest sports clubs at
Exeter University, with over 100 members. It is a highly
successful club with an enviable reputation for having many
of the top youth sailors in the country. Not only do our
members compete at university level, but at national and
international level too, with a number of alumni and current
students being members of the British Keelboat Academy and
the Olympic Development Squad. Members of our club hold
many sailing qualifications and are involved in coaching
locally, nationally and internationally, particularly for junior
and youth squads.
Exeter University Sailing Club has four team racing teams, two
match racing teams and a yachting team that compete at
numerous events throughout the year against other
universities. Our teams train weekly at Roadford Reservoir in
our fleet of 12 Firefly dinghies, which are also used by our
active casual sailing members. Exeter University Sailing Club
runs the Exeter Excalibur annually, a popular team-‐racing
event attracting other major UK universities and we also hold
annual Alumni events, keeping past members up to date and
involved in our club.

BACKGROUND
We believe that our club can offer many benefits for the sponsoring company, some of which
are listed below:
-‐ Logo on clothing, boats, website, Facebook page, Twitter, newsletters, emails and letter heads
-‐ Clearly show the sponsors name in club and team publicity through reports in the yachting
press, student newspapers and appropriate websites
-‐ Display the sponsor’s name, logo and statement on the Exeter University Sailing Club website
-‐ Hold an event under sponsors name (ie. ‘The Bishop Fleming Excalibur’)
-‐ Build relationships between University of Exeter students and the sponsoring company
-‐ An opportunity to engage with past Exeter students through a presence at our annual alumni
events and in our frequent alumni newsletters as well as facebook updates and tweets to our
numerous members past and present
-‐ Corporate sailing days for employees
SPONSORSHIP EXPOSURE AND OPPORTUNITIES
WHERE INVESTMENT IS NEEDED Due to the Club’s current funding levels, sponsorship significantly assists the members in their
achievements each year. Money raised would be used for:
-‐ Assisting with the purchase of new Firefly dinghies. We currently have 6 new and 6 old boats, which
we want to be able to put on a rolling replacing scheme to keep our fleet in top condition
-‐ Maintenance of boats and equipment
-‐ Entry costs, travel and other expenses allowing us to compete in more events, which currently are
costly, and limit us to the amount of events we can compete in
-‐ Increase and improve the scope of coaching by bringing in professional coaches; currently all training
is conducted by our own members
-‐ Increased event management for both Excalibur and new events
Financial support would help reduce the growing financial burden on the student members and allow us
to continue to achieve the successes we have previously seen.
