What is EUROsociAL?
• A regional co-operation programme between the European Union and Latin America, promoted by the European Commission, whose objective is to enhance the level of social cohesion in five areas: education, health, justice, taxation and employment.
• The aim of the programme is to strengthen and introduce innovative and proven tools with which to support the process of formulation, implementation and evaluation of public policies.
• The Programme shall run for a period of 4 years and has a budget of 36,7 million euro € (80% of the finanancing comes from the EU and 20% from the participating institutions).

Salient Features
• The initiative enjoys political support at the highest levels: Summits of Heads of State and Government held in Guadalajara and Vienna.
• It is public and participative. It is implemented through a partnership between LatinAmerican and European institutions. Identification of supply and demand through sectoral networks.
• Its Strategic Nature: the Joint Committee consists of the European Commission, IADB, UNDP, ECLA. 33

What is EUROsociAL taxation? • A sectoral project of EUROsociAL
• Its purpose: Influence public policies and institutional (management) practices in Taxation which have an impact on social cohesion through sharing experiences (EU-LA and LA-LA)
• The project is organised through a consortium comprised of 5 European and 5 LatinAmerican organisations
• EUROsociAL Taxation began in October 2005, with a budget of more than €8 millon for the period of 4 years
