Reunion is an island

located in the

Indian Ocean. The

island is 63

kilometers long,

45 kilometers

wide and covers

2512 squares

kilometers.

Reunion Island is inthe east ofMadagascar and 200kilometerssouthwest ofMauritius, the

nearest island.

Reunion’s population

According to the 2013 census,there are 840 974 peopleliving on the island.

Reunion’s population today isnaturally of mixed race,

bearing witness to the island’shistory. The various types arefamiliarly known as: Cafres ,Zarabs, Malbars, Chinois, Yaband Zoreil (Malagasy,

Africans, Indians, Chinese,Europeans). Reunion's peoplecome from 3 continents atleast!

Reunionese music

Reunionese music is based on two original styles, in the deep roots:the maloya and the séga. The maloya is similar to a ternary blues.Music of the afro-Malagasy slaves, it existed for a long time in theunderground.

More European by its rhythms and its instruments, the séga is the

dance for parties.

Reunionese cooking

Reunionese cooking is a tastefulalliance of spices, enhanced byhot chili pepper, the harmonywith the tropical climate. Thisart of cooking was passed on

from generation to generation.From a simple base, themultiplicity has given a full rangeof cooking dishes.

A small rite wants that the rice isplaced at the bottom of theplate, that grains are added onthe top and lastly, the dish.Rougails (spicy dish) and achardsare served in a plate separately.

●Reunion’s climate

Reunion benefits from a tropicalclimate softened by thebreezes of the Indian Ocean.The year is divided up intotwo long periods: the warm

and humid season, fromNovember to April, and thefresher and drier seasonwhich runs from May toOctober.

Sugar was traditionally the chiefagricultural product. Tourism isnow an important source ofincome and it’s a paradise for thehiking lovers!.

●Reunion’s relief 

Dominated by two toweringvolcanic peaks, massive wallsand three cliff-rimmedcirques, the island is a greatvariety of rugged terrains and

impressive escarpments,forested gorges and basins,creating a visually strikinglandscape.

Moulin Joli High School is located in La Possession

This high school has got a particularity: this is the only

high school in Reunion with 3 branches inside the sameplace: Generals and Technologics, Professionals and BTS.

In Generals and Technologics there are: S (Scientifics), L(Literary), ES (Economics and Socials) and STGM (Science

and Technology Management and Management)

In Professionals there are: CAP (Certificate ofProfessional Competence), BAC PRO (Logistics, Transports

and Trades) and BTS (Higher Technician Certificate)

And, it's the only high school with Transport

and Logistics Sections.There are 100 teachers for 1200 students! 350

of them are in Professionals.

Inside the school there is a boarding house forstudents who can't go home after the classesbecause they live too far from school.

Other particularity, La Possession High schoolis open from Monday to Saturday.

The high school is a real melting-pot because

there are pupils of different social andreligious backgrounds. Different from oneanother but we respect each other about

everything:-Skin color-Culture,-Religion…

Our differences but the same rules, thesame rights and the same duties foreverybody make us a real nice community.
