About the Workshop There is a Method to this Madness In the last decades the societal role of museums have greatly developed and now museums are engaged in being more proactive in projects aiming at the multicultural dialogue, integration of disabled people, attraction of youngsters as well as of elderly people, etc. But whatever is the policy of each museum its main resources are the collection and the exhibition environment where objects are made accessible, interpreted, and communicated. The tumultuous development of digital technologies has greatly enriched exhibition building and at the same time has made more challenging for curators, designers, multimedia producers exhibition planning. In such an articulated context, a clear methodology is of great help. This workshop deals with these problems offering some tools and practical proposals based on the large professional experience of our experts and the added value of assessing hundred of museums in the frameworks of the various EMA Awards.
Museum, Heritage and Education – a vision for master studies Presentation of thoughts around possible initiative for an Erasmus Mundus International Masters Programme - European and international trends versus national traditions – the European agenda for heritage – museums for the future: learning, curation, sustainability and access. The attraction of presence The workshop explores audience development using the example of the awarded Designmuseum Denmark in Copenhagen. This museum has increased its number of visitors significantly during the last years. Based upon the museological idea of presence and authenticity the Designmuseum Denmark strives to move and engage with its visitors as in the end: ’it’s all about people.’
