Compass Healthcare & Rehab provides short�term rehabilitation, long�term care, assisted living, memory care and independent living services. Located in North Carolina, Compass has three independent communities across the state and employs around 300 people. They are also part of the NC board for health care and rehab centers. Compass Healthcare began to look for help keeping both residents and staff safe during the COVID�19 pandemic and turned to Eurofins for a both short�term and long�term solution.

LEADING THE WAY WITH SAFER@WORK STRATEGIES

In late May 2020, Eurofins launched SAFER@WORK™, which officially organized many of the services offered to Compass Healthcare and Rehab for their COVID�19 control program. SAFER@WORK enables long�term care facilities to set up advanced risk management protocols, thereby limiting the impact of COVID�19. A leader in all aspects of testing, Eurofins provides a rich, multifaceted view on COVID�19 remediation and prevention.

EUROFINS CUSTOM COVID-19 SOLUTION

Eurofins and Compass came up with a plan together that entailed sending both environmental swabs and nasopharyngeal swabs to all three locations. Eurofins and Compass also referred to state requirements for testing long�term care facility staff and factored in state requirements to the testing plan. Nursing staff at the locations would conduct testing for Compass Health employees and residents, as needed. After collection, swabs were sent to one of the laboratories in Eurofins global network of laboratories. Compass Health received results within 24�48 hours.

RESULTS OF EUROFINS PLAN FOR COMPASS HEALTHCARE AND REHAB

The Eurofins solution for Compass Healthcare and Rehab allowed for a safe environment for both residents and staff. Compass Healthcare has been able to continue to operate as usual during the COVID�19 pandemic because of the safety precautions and testing put in place by Eurofins. Compass Healthcare has not had any positive results from surface testing. Compass Healthcare will continue to use Eurofins SAFER@WORK indefinitely in order to keep their residents and employees safe and to avoid an outbreak in any of their homes in North Carolina.

FACING CHALLENGES FOR LONG TERM CARE FACILITIES

With the COVID�19 pandemic threatening the health of long�term care facilities, Compass Heath needed a solution that ensured the safety of residents and staff in accordance with state regulations surrounding long�term care facilities. David Bryant, a Vice President at Eurofins, approached Todd Nunn, CEO of Compass, after meeting through Young Presidents Organization, a leadership organization for executives. While Compass had no reported cases, they were looking for a proactive solution for COVID�19 testing and monitoring in their facilities. Compass Health stated their interest in nasopharyngeal swabs for their employees and residents as need as well as, environmental swabs to test high traffic areas around their homes for SARS�CoV�2.

SAFER@WORK SOLUTIONS INCLUDE:
