GREECE INFO
Capital of Greece : Athens
Official language: Greek
The currency : Euro(€)
Climate: Mediterranean
Population: 11.306.183 (2010 estimate)
Greece is one of the world’s most popular destinations with ancient and modern attractions such as museums of the ancient and Byzantine eras and archaeological sites and cities, all of them historical monuments which have inspired modern education and culture around the world.
Modern Greece traces its roots to the civilization of Ancient Greece, which began with the Aegean Civilizations of the Bronze Age. Considered the cradle of all Western civilization, Greece is the birthplace of democracy, Western philosophy, the Olympic Games, Western literature and historiography, political science, major scientific and mathematical principles and Western drama including both tragedy and comedy.

Geography and climate
Located in Southern Europe Greece consists of a mountainous, peninsular
mainland jutting out into the sea at the southern end of the Balkans and is strategically
located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Due to its highly indented coastline
and numerous islands, Greece has the 11th longest coastline in the world with 13,676 km
(8,498 miles).
Greece features a vast number of islands, between 1,200 and 6,000, depending on the definition, 227 of which are inhabited. Crete is the largest and most populous island; Euboea, separated from the mainland by the 60m-wide Euripus Strait, is the second largest, followed by Rhodes and Lesbos.
The climate of Greece is primarily Mediterranean, featuring mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers. (which is great for a conference in October )
ATHENS
Athens (Modern Greek: Αθήνα, Athína, [aˈθina]) is the capital and largest city of Greece.
Athens dominates the Attica region and is one of the world's oldest cities, with its recorded
history spanning around 3,400 years.
Classical Athens, as a landlocked location was a powerful city-state that emerged in
conjunction with the seagoing development of the port of Piraeus. A centre for the arts,
learning and philosophy, home of Plato's Academy and Aristotle's Lyceum, it is widely
referred to as the cradle of Western civilization and the birthplace of democracy, largely
due to the impact of its cultural and political achievements during the 5th and 4th
centuries BC on the rest of the then known European continent. Today a cosmopolitan
metropolis, modern Athens is central to economic, financial, industrial, political and
cultural life in Greece.
In Ancient Greek Athens' name
was Ἀθῆναι (Athēnai [atʰɛ ːnai]) in
plural. The root of the word is probably
not of Greek or Indo-European origin,
and is a possible remnant of the Pre-
Greek substrate of Attica, as with the
name of the goddess Athena, who was
always related to the city of Athens

DAY 0 – YOUTH TO BUSSINESS
The theme of this year’s Y2B is Defying Uncertainty
Why is this important for youth? For Greece? For AIESECers?
Today, in a world that is full of uncertainty, young people are
called to action. They need to overcome the uncertainty of their
studies, their countries and their world. For that reason, every
young person needs to:
Re-think Leadership
Drive the co-creation
Seize the day!
Like the Facebook Page Greece Youth to Business Forum to be
updated for the speakers, the workshops and everything about this
important event!
What AIESECer has not loved every moment of a global village?
This is your turn to be part of this amazing event.
But remember:
1) since this is an open event that follows Greek Youth 2 Bussiness Forum,
no alcoholic drinks are allowed to be on your booths. Save them for the
internal global village party of the conference.
2) According to the rules of AIESEC, no flags should be visible during a
global village.
3) Venue you ask? The same amazing college with our Youth 2 Business
and a very good partner of AIESEC in Greece - the party continues there
More info here
And what will you do there?
Apart from the booths where each delegation can have food, memorabilia
and other stuff from their country, there will be time to do a short cultural
performance (~2 minutes). It can be a dance, a song, a sketch, anything
you want (just be creative!)
Also, be prepared to talk with visitors, to share with them interesting, fun,
alternative facts about your country!
So, when you decide what it is, please write it in this google form.
For any questions, feel free to ask Emma, the CCVP Special Events by
sending an email at [email protected]
Pre and post conference accommodation
The CC and specifically the amazing CCVP Logistics has
found two hostels with special low prices for our delegates.
“The students and travelers inn” http://www.studenttravellersinn.com/index.html
Located in Plaka, one of the oldest neighborhoods of Athens. It is 5 minutes from
Syntagma square. There are 50 rooms available. Price: 13.5 Euros per night
“The Athens International” - http://www.athens-international.com/
It is very close to Metaxourgeio Metro Station which can take you to Syntagma or
Acropoli in a few minutes. The Metro is open until 02.00 on Friday and Saturday night
and until midnight on Sunday night. The area is not touristic and we recommend using
always the metro or a taxi in a case you arrive there at night. Also, in case you arrive
from the airport by bus after the metro is closed, you will have to take a taxi for there.
There are 110 beds available. Price: 7.5 Euros per night
How to book them:
By sending an email to [email protected] with cc the DS email
([email protected]) You must write:
“EuroCo AIESEC Congress – Name of the hotel”
If you know, the day and time of your arrival
Name, Surname, Passport number, ID number
The booking must be done per person and not per delegation.
In case the availability runs out, we will recommend hostels to
the remaining delegates, possibly not at the same prices.
The wi-fi in the venue will not be open for delegates as there is need from the conference team.
There will be one laptop with internet available for emergencies.
ANEMOLIA RESORT & CONFERENCE
Idyllically located on the outskirts of the historic Arachova village, the Anemolia Resort and
Conference offers unique views across the Delphi Valley and the Parnassos mountain range. The
Anemolia makes an ideal base from which to explore the nearby Delphi Archaeological site, the
picturesque Galaxidi fishing village, the Byzantine monastery of Osios Loukas, or even to explore the
Parnassos mountains - ideal for snow skiing during the winter (usually January - March), or
trekking, mountain biking or other sports during summer. The stone built Arachova village, often
identified as the "winter Mykonos" is a leisurely walk away from the Anemolia.
AISEC has hold conferences in the past in the hotel and is well-known among the AIESECers. It
has already hosted in the past National Conferences of AIESEC in Greece, offering unforgettable
moments to thousands of AIESECers. As a result, the managers and the whole stuff of the hotel
know the nature of AIESEC, our needs and what we can offer to them.
There is not a store or a super-market close to the venue. Make sure you buy all personal things you need (cigarettes, hygiene products etc) from Athens before we leave for the main venue.
Every delegate should have either travel insurance or a health card valid
inside Greece. Some examples of that is the European Health Insurance
Card or your personal insurance that is valid inside Greece. Also, a lot of
airlines offer travel insurance.
In any case and especially if you are not a EU citizen, we require a proof
that you have a valid insurance during the conference, meaning a photo of
your card or contract.
