Eureka Public School Your Future Success Starts Here Term 3 Week 9 2019 Wednesday 18th September 2019 Principal's Message Hello Everyone It has been another huge week at Eureka Public School with many great activities and events. We started the week a little earlier this week, attending the Federal Pre School Fun Day, where EPS had a stall set up making slime for the hundreds of kids at Federal. It was an explosion of glue, sprinkles and food colouring and a great way to connect with members of the community. A big thankyou to Lisa and Albert who helped set up, Megan, James and Chyioko who became expert slime makers by the end of the day, and to our fantastic SRC representatives Millie, Haruki and Tom who did a great job helping the little children make sticky, oozy slime all day. Last Monday I was so impressed with the standard of speeches at the Stage 2 public speaking competition. We had a range of different topics from 'Three Things That Scare Me' to 'What Animal I Would Like To Be'. Well done to our eventual winners, Haruki and Millie who will go on to represent the school at the nal in Clunes next term. This Thursday we have our rst Kindergarten Orientation visit for our new kindergarten students for 2020. Miss Lisa has an exciting activity set up for them and the P&C have organised a nice morning tea for our new families. It is important that we all make everyone feel welcome to our amazing school. Coming up this Friday is the Stage 3 Public Speaking nal in the Senior classroom. This will take place at the normal assembly this week. After the high standard of the Stage 2 speeches we are really looking forward to seeing what the Year 5 and 6 students can produce. Last but not least, if you haven’t heard already the school soccer team have made it through to the state nals! After an amazing game against Eungai Public School our team were victorious. I was really impressed with the entire team who have played as a whole team working for each other. This means the team will be ying to Sydney next Wednesday to play their games on Thursday. A big

SeniorsThis week the senior class have been presenting their If I was a martianprojects. Each student was tasked to calculate the weight of their schoolbag on different planets with different gravities. They were also asked tocompare facts about the various planets in a mathematical context. Ithas been great to see the senior class manage a big project on their own this term and being able towork with large numbers when discussing distances from the sun.

Indonesian Lessons with Ms AntheaTo learn about another culture and to understand it, as with most things in life, it is important to make

a personal connection to the topic. In Indonesian we are often looking at the similarities anddifferences between the cultures here in Australia as well as our own personal culture. As many of the

seniors were away this Thursday they will complete the following task next week.

This week in Indonesian the junior students learned about the symbolism of the Indonesian Coat ofArms. They then reected on their own values and created an individualized Coat of Arms. It wasbeautiful to see a running theme of love and respect for the natural world. These students are our

future and with the passion they show for the land I think it is good hands. (photo below)
