My life as a student pursuing fine arts

The idea that design can change the world

The belief that a wonderful life begins with design

Thus, the following pieces of work were born

Page 4: EunHae (Ellen) Cho

Changing the ground studio I Single unit housing wall collecting system

The studio objective is to design a connection between

house and ground. The project started with developing

the foundation section and extends it to enclose

space & create shelter. The house considers all aspects

of shelter including where water travels, where thermal

enclosure is created, and where the structure is penetrated.

Reflecting upon physical changes of the ground, the design

focus has to be on ‘TIME’ as a factor.

Bali studio I The Hall of Reconciliation

The Bali terrorist bombing occurred on October 12, 2002 in the town of Kuta, on the Indonesian island.

It killed 202 people and injured more than 209. Most of whom were foreign tourist. A number of Indonesians were sentenced

to death for the bombing, but those ultimately responsible have not been brought to justice.

The project is to create a hall for where reconciliation events will take place. The principle intention is to bring both victims and

perpetrators to an understanding and compromising

Solar Decathlon Competition Performative louver

A performative, louvered skin

tracks the circuit of the sun and,

according to the season,

reflects or absorbs heat and

provides ventilation. As the earth spins

the exterior skin produces a changing

visual effect through a graphic use of

hidden color.

Design Principle Studio I Material behavior and transformation

Constructing forms from plaster that defines the volume of space, the folded and assembled pattern (derived from the forms) is

created as a kind of three-dimensional template for designing the elements. The elements have a tectonic logic –in other words,

the relationship of element to element and the elements collectively meeting the defined space which needs to be clearly articulated

in the form of the elements.

The elements are structural. They are placed, joined, assembled stacked in order to define the space.

They collectively form a threshold of light and shadow and of inside and outside

3 screen (Mobile / TV / PC) Back to the Future

Organize your past, plan your future

Create a personal Media Timeline to manage and share

the entertainment you watch. A library of links stores

a personal diary of content, allows you to plan with others,

and to move items directly into purchase carts or

on to your calendar.

3 screen (Mobile / TV / PC) Back to the Future

Bill asks Alan about the movie he

mentioned the other day

Bill goes to his Media Timeline and

navigates to find the preview he saw

the other day. It’s easy to find because

he flagged it earlier

They watch the preview together.

Contextual options appear in the

menu on the right of the screen

They decide to go see the movie

tomorrow and purchase the ticket

Bill bumps into Caleb and tells him

they are going to a movie he might

like. Caleb is in a hurry, so Bill

says he’ll send the preview clip to

Caleb’s ‘Media Timeline’.

Caleb opens his Media Timeline later,

and watches the movie preview

Caleb thinks the movie looks great,

so he accepts the invitation

Bill, Alan and Caleb enjoy the movie

the next evening
