IntroductIon

At Etone College, our aim is to provide a broad and balanced curriculum to every child and one that ultimately leads to academic achievement. In Year 9 we ask pupils to make informed choices about what subjects they wish to study at Key Stage 4.

An initial pathway has been specifically selected for pupils based on their predicted level at the end of Key Stage 3, their Key Stage 2 SATs results, past performance and an aptitude for the subject areas. Within each pathway, pupils have the opportunity to select subjects which most suit their own individual interests and needs.

Your child has been selected to follow Pathway Three.

This pathway consists of a core curriculum and a further 3 option blocks. Pupils will study ONE subject in each option block but we ask that pupils select a first and second choice. Pupils MUST also select at least one subject that is highlighted in green.

This booklet provides details about the courses which pupils may wish to study. We would ask you to carefully read the information about each subject so that you and your child can make an informed choice about the options available.

Once you have read the information, please complete the form at the back of this booklet carefully.

This needs to be returned to Reception by Monday 14th March 2016 so that we can begin allocating pupils to the various groups. We hope you find this booklet useful and informative.
