Cultural Fair 2013 Goes on Despite the Weather

Eton School’s New Web Site Launching SoonAt last year’s auction, the raise the paddle provided funds for a new web site along with a new student management/development database. The new database is operational and we are using it to send out informative and easy to read broadcast e-mails to keep parents abreast of school news and events. Another exciting feature of this database is that the directory, giving and all enrollment/re-enrollment forms are going online in January.

Our Communications Director, Alice McNeer, has been working tirelessly with the web site development company to create a beautiful new web site that is vibrant and dynamic. In addition, the website will feature responsive design to make it easier to view on digital devices and Eton will have its own website app! Look for the new website launch sometime in December, and please check out the new Alumni pages.

According to a local weather station, Saturday September 28, 2013 was the wettest September day since record keeping began in 1891! The winds howled and the heavens opened up, but that did not deter the intrepid Eton School community in coming together to create another fantastic Cultural Fair.

For the first time in seven years, we held the fair inside the Main Building. Volunteers (parents, staff and alumni) magically transformed classrooms into different countries. Scottish Highland dancers, Korean martial arts, Indian Bollywood dancers and a wonderful Caribbean steel-drum duo performed on the Sport Court, which was curtained off to keep the elements out.

We are extremely grateful for our alumni parents and students who came and participated in so many

ways. Alumni parent Chris Klimecky expertly ran the sound system and hosted the entertainment program. His wife, Erika and sons Erik and Alex hosted the Nepal booth. Leah and Kaila McGehee helped serve the sumptuous Mediterranean buffet that was set up in the Activity Room. Taiga Koffron also enthusiastically served food the entire time while his mother, Kazumi Koffron, helped at the Eton Parent Council booth. Judi Hoskins helped with Registration set up and even brought in her own table for us to use. Regine Hortuer-Edjlali and her daughter Tiffany joined the setting up of the fair and helped serve food.

We love seeing our alumni families, so please stay in touch! Check out additional fabulous photos of the Cultural Fair on Facebook (etonschool.washington).
