In 2000 Etienne Meirlaen decided to make a come-back after a few years off, because of a flourishing business. He probably never expected his loft to re-ach the top in the long distance and grand distance competition so quickly! The initial goal was to create a team of pigeons that could compete with the best long distance and extreme long distance pigeons. This is quite a challenge! He purchased some first class pigeons and after a while his investments star-ted to give a return. This is not surprising: top class pigeons coached by a top class fancier usually have great potential. If you are lucky enough to have an exceptional breeding line as well you will be suc-cessful for years to come. A success story in pigeon racing is always based on a talented breed with great origins: an invaluable stock bear, a superior breeding couple or family of outstanding top class pigeons.

What makes the loft of Etienne Meirlaen so peculiar, especially compared to other lofts? The pigeon family is based on 5 successful bloodlines. The ‘golden’ lines, with Yelena as exponent of world-class, as one of the best… maybe the best breeding hen in the world ever for long distance and extreme long distance. These lines turned the Meirlaen-loft into one of the greatest long distance teams in Belgium. His results and titles are clear proof.
