Only a few years ago we would have needed to use software programs and understood a little about HTML and FTP to create content online. Most of this would have been done in school.

Today we simply need an email address and access to the Internet and we can add content.

For our students all this happens predominantly outside of school.

So what should we do?



Students might:

• Add copyright music • Access photos from Flickr etc• Post photo’s without consent• Include video clips without permission• Reference unreliable sources• Not check validity of online sources• No attribution for sources

We need to have conversations about:

• Ethics• Copyright• Personal Identity• Personal Data and Information• Online behaviour and citizenship

computer address, and unique identifier of your Web browser

Passive Digital Footprint: Personal data made accessible online with no deliberate intervention from an

individual.









Active Digital Footprint: Personal data made accessible online through deliberate posting or sharing of information by the user.
