2.1 CONCEPT OF ETHICS

"Ethics" may be broadly defined as that division of philosophy which deals with questions concerning the nature of value in matters of human conduct.

Ethical behavior is based on written and unwritten codes of principles and values held in society. Ethics reflect beliefs about what is right, what is wrong, what is just, what is unjust, what is good, and what is bad in terms of human behavior. Ethical principles and values serve as a guide to behavior on a personal level, within professions, and at the organizational level.

INTEGRITY

Integrity is the soundness of moral principle which refers to sincerity and honesty.

According to Malaysian Institute of Integrity (2004) government servant cannot misuse their authority for

oneself, family, and relatives. As civil servants they must be transparent, and be responsible towards the superior and their subordinates.

Every teacher should internalise and practice Malaysian Teachers Code of Ethics and Customer Charter to create a systematic work environment.

As teachers we hold high responsibility in educating the students sincerely and honestly to produce responsible citizens for the society and nation.
