Cycling and Blackburn

• British bicycle sales overtook car sales for the first time ever in 2012 (McWilliam, 2012: online)

• There is a 28% annual market growth (Mintel, 2012: online)

• The current mean average price of a new bicycle is £248.45 (McWilliam, 2012: online)

• Over 26% of people aged 16-45 within the borough do not own a bike due to affordability (Maher, McNally and Winser, 2013)
