They may not listen. After all, the vastmajority of men over 50already get tested.

The US PreventiveServices Task Forceexamined all theevidence and found littleif any reduction in deathsfrom routine PSAscreening. But it didconclude that too manymen are diagnosed withtumors that never wouldhave killed them andsuffer serious side effectsfrom resulting treatment.
That recommend-ation isn’t final — it’s adraft open for publiccomment. But it goes astep further than severalmajor cancer groupsincluding the AmericanCancer Society, whichurges that men be toldthe pros and cons anddecide for themselves.

Participants have long billed theconference opening on 28 November in Durban asa last chance to find a way forward on fightingclimate change, with the Kyoto Protocol’scommitments to cut carbon emissions expiringafter 2012.
Officials from key nations reported progress inpreparatory talks that closed Friday in Panama City— not in resolving the most knotty issues, but instarting to work out a technical framework for thefuture. “Countries are trying pretty hard to scaleexpectations down to a realistic level for Durban,”said Jennifer Haverkamp, the international climateprogram director at the US-based EnvironmentalDefense Fund.
Haunting the talks is the 2009 summit inCopenhagen, where more than 100 world leadersswept in as public pressure mounted for a sweepingdeal but found themselves ready only to takeincremental steps.
