PRESS RELEASE Essere genitori 3.0 be a parent 3.0 - digital media education for parents willing to impress their children Milan, 13 November 2013 Museum of Art and Science and Paola De Vecchi Galbiati organize an educational program for those who want to know and use the new tools of "Augmented Learning" by sharing with their children a conscious use of digital technologies. During the training stages (January-February 2014) the educational (relational and creative) aspects of social and mobile media will be addressed. The goal is both simple and practical: at the end of this first stage of journey participants will be able to improve their knowledge of digital technologies and to more channels to communicate, interact and grow with their children. This course is dedicated to all adults - "analogic natives" - who want to understand and use these new means and ways of “digital natives” in communication and learning. We have to achieve the following objectives: Learn to use with ease smartphones, tablets, apps and cloud Understand the potential and pitfalls of social networks and online communities Assess the impact of these tools on the way we and our children communicate Collaborate to rethink the processes of learning and education, developing initiatives inside and outside the schools This initiative is born from an experimental project carried out two years ago involving parents, teachers and students of a secondary school (Kindergarten12). This has allowed us to experiment with innovative solutions in field of “augmented didactics”. Parents of children aged between 6 and 15 years feel the urgent need to gain a deeper understanding of the tools and mechanisms that regulate social platforms and how these are inevitably affecting the way we built relations and we increase knowledge. This first step of Journey in augmented didactics is divided into these modules: Module 1 - Digital Media Beginner - Explore internet and chat platforms, how to exchange information, content and knowledge… we have to balance our "social" and "private" sides - Expand knowledge and conscious use of most popular social networks: Facebook, G+, Twitter and YouTube. Module 2 - Digital Media Explorer - Understand the evolution of media: mobile device, APP & Cloud computing… we have to create a right balance between “freedom” and “control” for our children’ activities. - How to search fun and educational APPs and how to make experiences for their intellectual development. During the meetings technologies and applications will be tested and ‘digital objects’ will be made. During the final meetings will gather feedback from participants in order to increase the offer of this kind of formats.

The course will be held at the Museum of Art and Science in Milan (Italy). Near to Castello Sforzesco, this museum was founded in 1990 by physicist Gottfried Matthaes and houses a great collection of African Art and Buddhist Art. Then, an educational section is dedicated to Leonardo Da Vinci. The museum has a special feature that makes it unique: it offers a didactics tour for the recognition of the authenticity in art and antiques. Every room explains how to recognize genuine artifacts from fake ones: painting on canvas and wood in the excavated pottery, furniture antique amber and ivory, silverware and old books, tapestries and rugs, explaining for each topics what are the characteristics of authenticity. The museum also provides a special tour for children. Gottfried Matthaes, as well as acute scientist (he patented an innovative system for dating wooden objects) was an important art collector. Gottfried Matthaes based his philosophy of life on the marriage between Art and Science. And exactly on the combination of art and science, of creativity and technique is based the format "be a parent 3.0". This format is designed and built by Paola De Vecchi Galbiati, memetist and disruptive innovator. Thanks to a long international experience in business management and ICT, she refined her ability to manage cultural differences and management of virtual teams. Relationship and communication are the basis of personal motivation and ability to collaborate in any context. She is currently engaged in field of cognitive science and collaborates with scholars, research institutes and business schools in Europe and US in order to build new models and tools for Corporate Education and for Schools: Eco-Cultural Systems Method.
