Entitled The Walther, the line offers upscale materials that incorporate the classic rudiments of good watchmaking, like quartz precision and sapphire-coated glass, to create a sturdy timepiece. Coupled with a design that combines understated luxury with a variety of color and strap options—from the stark, all-black Nero to the rich, rose gold Mesh— The Walther offers a line ideal for any wrist. AUGUST THOMPSON $180 — $200, Komono.com. TEEN SPIRIT While Ralph Lauren’s designs may be best described as all-American, the jet-setting mogul finds inspiration in all corners of the globe. In fact, five destinations were so important to him that he created olfactive odes to each as part of his luxe collection of fragrances. From his beloved West—in Song of America’s adventurous blend of sage and magnoli—to the wildness of the African savanna—a mix of warm amber and smoky oud in Treasures of Safari— each of the scents evokes a journey in a vintage, travel decanter-like bottle. KATIE DICKENS $240 for each, available at Ralph Lauren, Madison Avenue NYC and Bergdorf Goodman. WORTH WATCHING Tim Coppens’ ’90s-era Belgian adolescence undeniably wins for a cool factor simply nonexistent amongst today’s teens. The New York-based designer tapped into this hip nostalgia (as well as other eclectic youth subcultures) to join Eastpak on a limited-edition line of high-grade leather backpacks and totes, launching this fall. Both young ones (in age or heart) and 9-to-5ers will appreciate the sporty drawstring lacing, mesh paneling, and surplus of compartments. HEATHER RABKIN $465 — $595, available at Union Los Angeles. Eyewear inspirer Smoke x Mirrors turns its typically flamboyant gaze to new shapes in an architectural feat of frames. Named Geo, the four-style mini-line is anchored by an incredibly lightweight metal skeleton designed from a desire to push technical materials further. “We wanted to introduce complex design into a range of frames that are lighter than some of the simplest frames out there,” says co-founder David Shabtai, “the kind of frames that you almost forget you’re wearing. We joked that we wouldn’t be finished until one of us was caught looking for our glasses with them still on.” Teamed with a photo project by youth culture hero Dan Regan, the agile shades look toward a decisively new cool. After 110 years, the Hotel Grand Union NYC reintroduces itself via combination of the building’s landmark architecture and a reinvestment in state-of-the-art facilities. The swanky Manhattan stay—reborn just this fall—features a contemporary art gallery of the highest caliber, modernized rooms with iPad minis yet homey interiors, and the 1905 Lounge, a century-plus-old public room that houses everything from fireplaces to private films. A luxury haven in the city’s NoMad neighborhood, the HGU melds many eras into its welcome. AUGUST THOMPSON • 34 E 32nd St., New

York, NY 10016.

Transforming a puffy winter coat into a statement piece is no easy triumph, but American outfitter Penfield achieves just that with ease in its new, two-tone sportswear range. The water- and wind-resistant Bowerbridge jacket offers a detachable hood, snap-down storm flap, and an interior two-way zip for those particularly windy days, while the Outback vest—a signature from the brand—allows a full range of motion with provided coverage. Your foolproof, fit-saving cheat is here. SAM DEL ROWE • $175 — $285,

Penfield.com.

Raggedy band tees have a time and place. Thrown on for a quick coffee run or errand? Sure. Sporting in polite company? Not so much. Blessedly, Parisian clothier Sandro has evolved the wardrobe staple into an elevated hero with a collection of tees and a hoodie emblazoned with art from venerated English rockers New Order’s 1983 album “Power, Corruption & Lies.” Peter Saville, the designer behind the iconic cover, was inspired by the 19th-century painting after seeing it printed on a postcard while strolling through the National Gallery in London. Now, it looks just as fetching on comfy jersey and supple pima cotton. HEATHER RABKIN • $95 — $245, Sandro-Paris.com.

Born-and-bred Florentine Federico Curradi was undeniably the perfetto choice to helm Peuterey Studio, the brand-new, ready-to-wear addition to the Peuterey sartorial family. Craft-obsessed since his Italian youth, the designer’s debut collection under the line merges tailoring know-how with a passion for the outdoors (he happily resides in the Tuscan countryside, counting wolves and horses among neighbors). Innovative materials and elegant silhouettes meet the urban-functional aesthetic Peuterey is renowned for in a collection where technical elements cleverly abound. HEATHER RABKIN • $270 — $1,677, Peuterey.com.

A native of Paris’s 12th arrondissement, Christian Louboutin brings the majesty of his hometown to footwear in two audaciously reverent pairs of high-tops. Patterned by antique maps of the city’s lush layout, the Plan De Paris sneaker capsule shares a brilliant mismatch of styles that explain the capital’s intoxicatingly romantic history, from the River Seine to the Eiffel Tower and beyond. AUGUST THOMPSON • $945 — $1,295, available at select

Christian Louboutin boutiques and

ChristianLouboutin.com.

New York-based Private Policy is radicalizing the classic downtown streetwear look with an ambitious take on bombers. Spurred by the codes of the timeless standard, founders Haoran Li and Siying Qu found new creativity: “The tension between modernism and classicism really inspires us to build our artistic ecosystem. Restrictions are challenges, and challenges create innovation.” The bombers are cut in silhouettes that fit either sex and feature a bombastic, inside-out design. Available in a bursting array of colors and high-quality materials, the jackets reinspire an already established look. AUGUST THOMPSON • $795,

Parisian perfume extraordinaire Diptyque first applied its knowledge of botany to skincare two years ago for a simple, luxurious, and gorgeously scented five-piece collection. Branching out today, the company capitalizes on this mastery by macerating flower buds in oil, thereby harnessing active ingredients to their greatest effects for its newest and all-natural additions for the face: a rose petal oil, orange blossom cream, and poppy flower lip balm. It turns out it is easy to be green. KATIE DICKENS • $25 — $75, available at

Nordstrom and Nordstrom.com.

Renowned for his work on the silver screen, legendary actor and director Dennis Hopper less-famously explored photography as a personal passion. Particularly drawn to the abstract shapes of painted-over street art, the late artist lensed gang graffiti while working in Los Angeles during the mid-’80s on a Polaroid camera. Exemplifying the thought that art is everywhere, this new, 25-count edition presents these rare captures for the first time, including a numbered print of the 1987 “Untitled (Diamonds).” SAM DEL ROWE • $500, ArtBook.com.

From choreographers to interior designers and beyond, Issey Miyake is known for creative collisions outside of his own discipline that allow for amazingly unexpected design. Now the revered Japanese designer’s adventurist approach has wrought a vibrant line with Kenji Hirasawa, importing thermal photos from the photographer’s “Psyche” and “Portrait” series onto an array of wholly graphic clothing and accessories. Bathed in phantasmagoric oranges, blues, greens, and whites, the printed project captures a sense of the gorgeously spiritual in Miyake’s sterling standard of quality, clean cuts. AUGUST THOMPSON • $110 — $865,

available at tribecaISSEYMIYAKE and TribecaIsseyMiyake.com.
