    Sustainable Design on Robotics

    Concept of robotics arose when water clock was popularized back in 6th century

    in China. Water clock was the first mechanical-automatic device that mankind

    use to make living simpler. Sequentially the discovery of electric motor in in-

    dustrial era caused the definition of robotics really close from what society havenow. Robot, or what can be said as automatic mechanical devices that has

    logic, in fact help society a lot, by doing mass amount of operation that human

    cannot do or prefer not to do it bare handedly. Nevertheless, since this cause

    reached a point where technology usage might harm surroundings, matter of

    robotics advancement within nowadays era is rather stalled. Main archetype

    beyond mainstream society is that, more use of technology, more waste, thus

    reduced the capability for environment to endure certain hassle. Today, re-

    searchers work within a team with diverse knowledge pool, from artist, engineer,

    scientist, to psychology to create socially environmental responsible robot, thus

    capable of making life easier with more sustainable environment. Commonality

    should be introduced by the term of sustainable robotic, so that prosperousness

    of inhabitant enhanced.

    There is a lot of approaches on how to improve relationship within humanand robot, and also to remove paradigms of robot as environmental heavy

    object. From the technical point of view, usability of renewable technology and

    material might be the key, although it will surely reduce people awareness due

    lack of design. This case then up on a matter on how to get mainstream people

    involved as a user. With regard to make society participating in the development

    of robotics, understanding of basic operation of robot is what society need.

    Thus designers have a task to develop such a design and interface with respect

    of environmental and easiness, without reducing any its usability. Design is a

    bridge for every aspect of understanding matters, a good designer can send vital

    message to anybody regardless of their background.

    To sum up with, a good design comes with good understanding. With robotic

    getting more into public, productivity will be soared up hence created better

    life expectancy. With current understanding of robotics and alternative energy,engineers and scientists already proficient on producing robot for daily use,

    without reducing environmental strength. Furthermore, designers are needed to

    develop the platform of understanding for society to welcome this technology.
