• Bullying in North America has been on the rise. In 2008, 40 000 adolescents reported being physically or verbally abused by their peers.

• With changes in technology, programs such as facebook, msn, and my space, have aided in the growth of “cyberbullying”. A form of bullying that is much more difficult to detect.

• In 2009, 35 students in North York Public School reported cases of on-line bullying. Some reported private emails going public, others of online intimidation, threats and taunting.
