Events Major commercial events be moved away from the Esplanade when the City’s current agreements with the organisers end Events to be contained within a defined area (see activities map on the next slide). Parades, ceremonies and local community events to continue at the park. Park Hub This area to be assigned for community and commercial facilities, to create a ‘park hub’ . Facilities could include the observation wheel, café, bike and skate hire and repair, public toilets, shaded seating and al fresco area. Possible relocation of the Carriage Café to the hub at the end of current lease. A tree protection zone created for all existing major trees. A management plan be developed to protect the 100+ Norfolk Island Pines trees and plan for future replacement planting of pines in the 1905 section of the park. Other tree species incorporated into the 1970s southern section of the park consistent with the style of planting at the youth plaza. Younger Norfolk Island pines in this section possibly removed or relocated following a detailed planting design to be prepared after the masterplan. OVERVIEW
