HELENA F. MCDONNELL

Helena F. McDonnell is a Partner at Cambridge Advisors to Family Enterprise specializing

in family strategic planning and with expertise in organizational assessments, executive

coaching and wealth management.

She has been working with John A. Davis and various teams within Cambridge Advisors

as a consultant to family-owned companies and family offices on issues such as

succession; talent recruitment and retention; and family, ownership, and business

governance. She has also served as facilitator for the Families in Business (FIB) program

at Harvard Business School.

Prior to joining Cambridge Advisors Ms. McDonnell was the Head of Private Banking at

HSBC Bank Brazil, where she was responsible for domestic and international platform for

Brazilian clients. In her previous role as Head of Latin America at Royal Bank of Canada,

she supervised offices in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Ms. McDonnell was previously an HR director for a Brazilian family-owned company for

several years. She later moved to DBM Brazil, where she was coaching and counseling

executives. She was also a partner at Spencer & Stuart, where she conducted several

assessment and executive search processes for the recruitment of CEOs and board

directors for large companies.

Ms. McDonnell graduated in Psychology by UNIP and attended the Leadership Program

in INSEAD. She has also pursued additional studies in Finance, Capital Markets, and

Marketing. Ms. McDonnell speaks Portuguese (native) and is fluent in English and

Spanish.


Magda Gabriel - Senior Associate Partner, Cambridge Advisors to Family Enterprise

Magda Gabriel is Senior Associate Partner at Cambridge Advisors to Family Enterprise. She

has spent her career in banking in Switzerland. After many years of advising family clients in

private banking, she turned her focus to advising business families on family enterprise

continuity over generations. She assists business families with their governance, next

generation development, succession transitions, family offices and financial planning. She is a

Family Facilitator at Harvard Business School’s executive education program Families in

Business: From Generation to Generation, which examines pivotal issues facing family

businesses.

Ms. Gabriel began her banking career at UBS in Zurich, followed by Nordfinanz Bank where

she worked in commercial banking. She began her work in private banking in 1994 at

Rothschild Bank in Zurich. In 2001, she joined HSBC Private Bank as Head of the Zurich Latin

American Desk. In 2011, Ms. Gabriel became the Head of the LATAM Business Area in

Switzerland and Luxembourg and was a Member of the Executive Committee. She also acted

as Chairman for the Swiss Trust Company at HSBC.

Ms. Gabriel earned her BA in Business Administration and Economics Science in Rio de

Janeiro, Brazil and her MBA from the University of Rhode Island. She is fluent in English,

Spanish, Portuguese, and German.
