Secretary.However,MalaysiahadsentasupportletterforMr.YuJixintocontinueasaTCSecretaryrole.Also,TCShadreceivedfromMacao,ChinaanominationletterforwithMr.Yu’s to continue as TC Secretary. Therefore, Mr. Yu Jixin will be reappointed as TCSecretaryforthenewterm2019-2022/early2023.

• AWGdiscussedthe2ndTermofChairmanshipofAWG.AWGagreedtoreappointMr.Ray
TanabeasChairofAWG,Mr.TCLeeandD.HisakiEitoinreplacementofMr.ChiashiMuroiasVicechairofAWG,respectively.
UpdateofaccountingissueofWMOanditsimpacttoTCS• WMOpresented the external auditor report for TCTF andmentioned that since 2010
WMOusestheaccoutingsystemofIPSAS.TheresultsofauditingmentionedthatbalanceiswellmaintenedandmeetrulesandproceduresofTCTFandWMOfinancialregulations.
• The auditing procedures hadmade the following recommendations to the CommitteerelatedtoTCTF:Ø Cycle1January-31DecemberØ AllowannualworkplanforrequestofTCTFforadditional3monthsofthefollowing
yearØ VoluntarycontributionfromMembersshallbepaidinCHFinsteadUSD
• AWGdiscussedtheserecommendationsasitmightimpactinsomeMemberscontributiontotheTCTF,especiallyforthepaymentinCHFinsteadUSD.
• WMOmentionedthattheAuditorsreportwereimportantandmustbefollowed.HoweverthereportisconfidentialandcouldnotbedisclosedtotheMembers.ThecontributionsreceivedbyWMOfromMembersisconvertedautomaticallyfromUSDtoCHFbutnowmustbefromCHFtoCHF.
• AWGrequestedWMOtocirculatetheauditforreviewmyMembers,atleastforTCStounderstandtheproceduresandrecommendations.
• SincethisisaCommitteefund,managedbyWMO,AWGrequestedWMOtoclarifywhatwouldhappeniftheCommitteedoesnotagreewiththerecommendationsproposedbyWMOauditors.
• AWGrequestedTCStonotifyMembers,afterreadingtheWMOreports,anddiscussedthismatterduringTC51withtheCommittee.

there’sanincreaseofthebudgetthisyear.• TCSjustifiedtheincreaseinbudgetwaspartiallyduetothenextIWSinGuam,USA,where
theexpensesarehigher.
CrossCuttingprojectsbetweenWGs
• AWGdiscussedaboutthecrosscuttingprojectsbetweenWGs.• WGDRRmentionedthatcross-cuttingprojectcouldbetheBonsaiForumin2019.AWG
requesttheWGMandWGHtosendpersonsforthementionedForum.• WGHChair,Mr.Tokunaga,mentionedthatthere’sWGHProjectonconjunctiontoWGM.• ForWGM,theGMASprojectmustbediscussedfurther,butforcross-cuttingcouldbeuse

• Dr.TCLeeinformedabouttheHKOisdoingatyphoonreconnaissanceandwouldliketo
establish a coordination flyer reconnaissancewith otherMembers in certain areas ofSouthChinaSea.TheideawaswellreceivedinAWG.
• HKO will coordinate with TCS about the possible cooperation mechanism of flyingreconnaissancewithinTCregion.AWGrequestedHKOwillmakeapresentationandTCStoincludethisasitemfordiscussiononTC51.
• Dr.LeiXiaotuproposedaestablishmentoftyphooncenterforoperationalforecasttolinktheoperationandresearchresultsformoreaccurateforecastforTCevent.ThesetupwiththecenterwillbenefitofcrosscuttingprojectsofTC.Thereweregapforecastandtheevent for some unusual typhoon cases. Therefore, the necessity in create this Centre.However,Dr.TCLeementionedtheneedintoandhowtosynergiesinthisresearchwithintyphoonMembers,toavoidoverlappingwithintheexistingcenterandmodels.
• Ms. Yohko Igarashi, RSMC Tokyo, JMAmentioned about the overlapping on the sometropicalcylconenames thatwereretiredorused inotherRegion.AWGagreedon thisissue but mentioned that this issue needs to be discussed on WMO TCM meeting inHonolulu,Hawaii.
• WMOinformedthatin2019willbeheldthe2ndMultiHazardEarlyWarningConferencefrom13-14MayinGeneva.ThisisajointeventbetweenUNISDRandWMO,andrequestedWGDRRtojoin.WMOalsowishesTCMemberstohaveTCgrouptojointheconference.
