Dear Friends of Marion First UMC,

This month we will see plenty of red balloons, pink flowers, greeting cards, and assorted chocolates being purchased to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It is a time we try to share expressions of our love for others that we care about. It is a time we often try to pay back what others have done for us.

In 2010 a movie came out called Pay It Forward. The plot revolves around a junior high school student trying to meet a school project chal-lenge to make the world better. His attempts to pay it forward, through acts of kindness, blossoms into a national phenomenon. Though the movie is essentially secular in nature principle is a core principle of Christian discipleship. None of us have come to the faith without some-one having paid it forward. It is a domino effect.
