i am looking to apply for the graphic design internship posted on you website:
i am a recent graduate of the savannah college of art and design with a b.f.a. in graphic design, and a denver native. recently returning to denver this year, i am a passionate and practicing graphic designer, illustrator, and artist seeking to get my foot in the door and learn as much as possible about how to advance my knowledge of design and production. one of my primary goals is to gain valuable experience that i will be able to translate into beautiful and effective design, both now and for the rest of my career.
i have worked freelance since graduation with several clients working with everything from branding to web design and marketing strategy. my knowledge of design is always growing and changing, but i can say that having read the qualifications posted, i believe i am the perfect candidate for the internship posted. i am constantly working with the adobe suite collection of programs and am very comfortable with most advanced features on a wide range of them. i started on pc’s but through my college career was swiftly converted to the dark side and currently work off a macbook pro with cs5 versions. (also have a nikon digital camera)
on a more personal note, i love to learn new things through reading and experience, i am always working on 3-4 oil paintings on the side as to not become too one track in my development as an artist and designer. it would be an amazing opportunity to work with your company to re-establish myself as a resident of my favorite city and meet more people that are as passionate about design and production as i am. i look forward to your reply, and hopefully an interview. you will find my resume and work samples on the following pages, enjoy!

kongruent vineyard
packaging design 2012
package design for fictional vineyard from germany. wines include 3 rieslings and 1 pinot noir, popular for the region the grapes are grown in. kongruent is named as german for “congruent” and refers to the balance between growing/fermenting stages to create an expertly crafted glass of wine. created using illustrator / indesign / photoshop. photography done by janie gray.
negativland is a highly controversial and anti-establishment musical group that mix together samples of audio and other works. goal was to create a mailer to promote upcoming release of new single. was heavily influenced by russian constructivist propoganda posters from the early 20th century. created using illustrator / photoshop.
Negativland covets insight-ful humor and wackiness from anywhere, low-tech approaches whenever possible, and vital social targets of any kind. Foregoing ideological preach-ing, but interested in side ef-fects, Negativland is like a subliminal cultural sampling service concerned with making art about everything we aren’t supposed to notice.

project for a studio class that involved creating a calendar in the non-conventional manner. starchild is a fictional mobile app designed as a merging of astronomy / astrology designed to check solar output, tide info, horoscopes, etc... all at the touch of a button on the hourly/daily/monthly/yearly scale. completed using illustrator / indesign / photoshop.
austin texas navigation posterposter / information design 2011
information design executed in the form of a poster to navigate around city of austin, texas, “the live music capital of the world.” used a combination of hand drawn and digital elements. musical motifs were also used as a unifying and decorative theme of the poster to make the information more interesting to look at, and / or, draw in the viewer. created using illustrator / indesign / photoshop.
baldessari moma posterposter design 2011
museum of modern art poster created for a fictional exhibit for the artwork of john baldassari. used the motif of highly saturated representations of baldassari on top of samples of his work. used one of his more recognizable styles which included heavy use of primary colors on black and white. created using illustrator / photoshop.
dirty southern brewery
branding / packaging design 2011
graphic design focusing on branding and packaging. multiple brands for a small brewery based in savannah, georgia. theme for brewery included a different design for each of the states in the deep south using their respected state flower as the central motif. used a combination of hand drawn / photography / digital elements for a fun, and rustic feel. flowers done in watercolor and scanned, combined using illustrator / indesign / photoshop. photography done by janie gray.

acrylic / oil painting - 36 x 24 2013
latest painting commission created using combination of acrylic and oil paint. subject matter includes martial artist bruce lee in center with major villains from each of his films surrounding him.
