Principal Update
As most of you know, I was seconded in August 2018 to the
position of Director, Educational Leadership, Carlingford
Network. This contract was to be concluded on 29 March
2019 – in about 3 weeks!
I was notified last Friday that the substantive director would
not be returning to the position and asked if I would contin-
ue until recruitment could fill the position. I have agreed to
stay on until the end of term two to allow the time needed
for the position to be filled. I will be returning to Beresford
Road at this time.
While I really miss the students, staff and community at
Beresford Road, I believe the right thing to do for the De-
partment of Education is to remain as relieving director un-
til the position is filled next term.
I’d like to thank Kaye Pearson and the executive team for
managing the school during my absence. More information
will come from the school on organisation during term 2.
Thanks
David Leydon
Relieving Principal’s Report
We tried a new photographer this year. They have been
very efficient and friendlier than previous ones. When the
photos arrive, please let us know what you think.
David Leydon has informed us that his time as Relieving
Director of Carlingford has been extended until the end of
Term 2. Our director has said she will put out an expression
of interest for Relieving Principal of Beresford Road Public
School until his return, whenever that may be.
MC Messages
Welcome to another edition of MC Messages. Well its week
6 already and time has flown by! We’ve finished our first
sensory board, and I’m proud of every class for trying their
best in helping each board come together. They’re easily
taken off the wall in the Safe Play Area and can be shared
amongst each class. They’ll improve fine motor skills as well
as assisting sensory regulation. Go team!
Everyone had a fantastic time at our teambuilding/getting to
know new staff and students’ excursion to Blacktown
Showgrounds, and thanks to Mrs Crabtree, we have a great
video to remember it by! It makes me really happy that I can
write about so many accomplishments in the Support Unit
each fortnight, we really are learning, playing and growing
down here.
Until next week, that all folks!

I am delighted that this term, our school, like many other
public schools in the state, will participate in a Department
of Education initiative: the Tell Them From Me student feed-
back survey. The survey measures factors that are known to
affect academic achievement and other student outcomes.
The focus of the NSW-wide survey is on student wellbeing,
engagement and effective teaching practices.
More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide
us with valuable and quick feedback on what they think
about school life, how engaged they are with school and the
different ways that teachers interact with them. More than
6,300 schools in Australia and around the world have used
Tell Them From Me to survey 5.4 million students. Capturing
the voices of our students will help improve how we do
things at our school.
I want to assure you that the survey is confidential. The sur-
vey is conducted online and will typically take less than 30
minutes to complete. It will be administered during school
hours between 11 March and 12 April. Participating in the
survey is entirely voluntary.
A consent form and FAQs for parents/carers about the sur-vey is being sent home with students. If you do not want your child or children to participate, please return the form to school by 12th March 2019 Copies of the form and FAQs are available from: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents.
The consent form and FAQs are available in 23 languages.
Helpers Needed
We have some parents that already help with the home
reader books but they are in need of some more helpers. If
you are able to help from 9.00am on a Monday and a
Thursday please come to the front office to fill in some
paperwork.
Harmony Day-2019
Harmony day is 21st March. Harmony Day is a day of cultural
respect for everyone who calls Australia home-from the
traditional owners of this land to those who have come from
many countries around the world. Please remember to wear
orange clothes, hair, accessories or multicultural clothes on
the day and celebrate with us.
Money is now accepted Monday-
Thursday. NO money will be accepted
on a Friday as cash is not kept on the
premises.
