“Unesco Heritage” Strategic Partnerships for Schools

Aims • to raise students’ awareness regarding recognition and

conservation of the world heritages;

• to recognize the tangible and intangible cultural heritage;

• to build the future in the context of a united multicultural Europe.

Expectations • To improve learning through cooperation and critical thinking;

• To acquire knowledge outside school curriculum;

• To develop communication skills in IT and foreign languages;

Impact • Developing a positive attitude towards education, tolerance

and flexibility;

• The participants will learn and understand more about their own and European culture and history;

• Teachers will improve their teaching and communication skills, will acquire new experiences, will learn new approaches and methods and will enrich not only their professional future but also their students’ and their school’s.

Day 1 - 23rd February • welcoming of the partner countries;

• two work sessions about UNESCO Heritage: PowerPoint presentations and a workshop on the lost heritage in the communist regime in Romania and on education for values;

• In the afternoon - visit of the most representative monuments and sights in Bistrita.

Day 2 - 24th February

• experimental learning process, exploring the tangible and intangible UNESCO Heritage in Romania, close to the region of Bistrita;

• day trip to the village of Viscri (UNESCO Heritage site) and to the medieval town, Sighisoara (UNESCO Heritage site

Day 3 - 25th February

• demonstrative lesson about the Danube Delta (UNESCO Heritage site);

• workshop about how a puzzle in two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms can be used during the learning process in school and/out-of-school context;

• In the afternoon - Intercultural day (recognition of the Intangible dimension of their national UNESCO treasure).

Day 4 - 26th February • workshop session on how to create magnets and how to design the

magnets which represent UNESCO Heritage monuments;

• workshop focused on how students can develop entrepreneurial competences, combining the art activity and active rest with entrepreneurial ideas;

• In the afternoon all the guest and host students and teachers participated at the festive event at Dracula’s Castle in Tihuta.

Day 5 - 27th February • proposals for new UNESCO Heritage entries

• workshop about the art of Constantin Brancusi

• feedback from each country on the activities, awarding of certificates to all the participants at this meeting;

• In the afternoon – visiting of the historical centre of Cluj and the salt mine in Turda.

Day 6 - 28th February

• teachers and their students departed according to the timetable of their means of transport.

Observation: it was confirmed that the next meeting will take place in

Istanbul, Turkey, from 27th April to 1 May 2015.
