ENDOMETRIOSIS

• Presence of functioning endometrial glands and stroma outside uterine cavity•Involvement of the bowel occurs in approx 5% of cases (rectum is the most frequent location) followed by distal ileum and appendix•Intestinal endometriosis is often difficult to diagnose owing to rare nature of disease•Management: hormonal therapy, segmental surgical resection for cases that failed medical therapy
