USF™ ion exchange resin is manufactured by the leadingresin companies tomeet Siemens’ more stringent,performance-based specifications. These standards arehigher than those used by themanufacturers in testingtheir own products.
USF™ ion exchange resin was developed in response toinconsistent performance and quality trends experiencedin the resinmarketplace. Siemens provides processguarantees on all resins sold and therefore, it becamenecessary to establish new, more stringent resinperformance specifications to ensure our resins met statedexpectations.
USF™ ion exchange resins are guaranteed tomeet ourperformance specifications. The resins are tested in ourstate-of-the-art analytical laboratory to verify complianceto specifications based on the following:
Capacity Percent Salt Split Capacity vs. Total Capacity Percent Conversion Percent Moisture Particle Size Percent Whole, Cracked, Broken Bead Strength Metallic and inorganic impurities Kinetics
Additional performance testing is also availableupon request.
Some of the advantages to choosing USF™ brandresin include:
Life cycle cost savings when compared withequivalent resin products
Manufactured and tested tomeet higher, more stringent performance specifications
QA/QC program is ANSI N45.2, 10CFR50(appendix B) and 10CFR21 compliant tomeet nuclear safety requirements
 Process performance guarantees availableupon request
Extensive technical support and resinapplication knowledge

Siemens offers a wide range of supportservices to helpmaintain ion exchangesystems and eliminate the liabilitiesassociated with spent resin handlingand disposal. Our trained servicetechnicians are available to provideservices from over 85 branch locationsthroughout North America.
Resin Removal and ReplacementSiemens team of trained professionalswill provide complete projectcoordination, from predisposal testingto new resin installation to used resinlandfill disposal or investment recovery(used resin brokers). With completeresponsibility in Siemens’ hands, youcan be assured that your project will becompleted professionally, on schedule, within budget andmost importantly, infull compliance with all local andgovernmental regulations.
Removal and Replacement Serviceincludes:1. Pre-disposal Toxicity CharacteristicLeachableProcedure (TCLP) testing forhazardous chemicals andmetals.
2. Pre and post disposal documentation.3. Removal of existing resin.4. Visual inspection of the servicevessel.
5. Installation of the new resin.6. Pre-arranged disposal at a licensedland fill or investigate potentialinvestment recovery through usedresin brokers.
Laboratory Testing and ProcessEvaluationTo ensure optimum performance,Siemens recommends periodiclaboratory analysis of your ionexchange resin. Siemens owns andoperates a state-of-the-art laboratoryand is capable of determining resinquality, as well as diagnosing operatingproblems and evaluating new ionexchange products.

Processing/BlendingSiemens provides resin processing services tomeet customershigh purity needs. Our specially designed facility usesmicroelectronics grade water (typically <3 ppb TOC, 18+Megohm and <50 ppt Na) to ensure the integrity of theprocesses.
Special customer requirementsmay include: Extremely low organic leachable
impurities (TOC, UV Cl, UV SO4 , etc.) Conversion to specific ionic forms (Li-7,
K,Ca, various amines, etc.) Terminal Settling Velocity Modified (for
improved separability) Custommixing and blending of resins Custom packaging of resins (Mylar®, Heat
sealed, 0.5-7 CF drums, 20-35 CF supersacks) FDA cycling for food and pharmaceutical
applications (taste and odor free)
Resin Cleaning and ReconditioningResin cleaning and reconditioning services provide an optionfor salvaging fouled, cross-contaminated and/or exhaustedresin. Siemens can remove resins, transport them to our localprocessing plant, convert the resins and return them to yourfacility. Resin cleaning extends the resin's useful life, minimizes
operating costs and reduces system downtime. The resin canbe transported to and from the job site via tanker truck, 55gallon drum, lined fiber drum, or supersack.
Bulk TransportationSiemens offers bulk delivery of new resin and disposal of spentresins. We eliminate drum handling by slurrying the resindirectly from your water treatment service vessels to one ofour company-owned tanker trucks. Bulk transportation greatlyreduces the labor and steps involved with the documentationand administrative controls associated with temporary on-siteand off-site disposal of resin.
Performance Evaluation ProgramAn important part of the Siemens service offering is toassist customers achievemaximum performance fromtheir ion exchange system. Our proprietary, PerformanceEvaluation Program is a computer-based tool whichevaluates current operating conditions and economic factorsversus theoretical data. This allows us to evaluate the currentresins, system operating parameters and replacement times, andmake appropriate recommendations.
