Your partnership in the new Center is of major significance

W hile the new Center is a beautiful, stately structure, professional surveyors have recommended

some improvements. With the amount of traffic the Center will enjoy, we will plan to fortify the floors, stairwells and ceiling rafters.

We need to raise $800,000 for these important renovations, to decorate and furnish four floors, to add all necessary

workplace technology and provide maintenance for the next three to five years.

Our desire is to finish all renovations and furnishing by June of 2013 and then use the Center for two important summer ministry events: the Mission to Congress event and the Washington, D.C. intern mission program.

CCS—Many years of Gospel impact in Washington, D.C.

Since 1995, the D. James Kennedy Center for Christian Statesmanship (CCS) in Washington, D.C., under the influence

of the Holy Spirit, has been building and equipping our nation’s leaders in their faith in Jesus Christ in a threefold approach:

Spiritual Outreach: Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the leaders in our nation’s capital.

Ministry Training: Equipping our nation’s leaders for ministry and service and discipling them to be more effective in sharing their faith.

Restoring a Vision: Re-establishing the principles and practices of true Christian statesmanship, call on our leaders to embrace America’s heritage of Christian statesmanship and rebuild our nation’s foundation for liberty.

The next step: a permanent ministry center in a prime location

To build upon the foundation already laid, and with generous support from a friend of CCS, a building center was purchased to expand CCS influence and

continue to impact our nation’s leaders with the Gospel.

The Center is in a strategic location, only minutes from the Capitol building. It is the best possible location for ministry on Capitol Hill in close proximity to where our nation’s leaders work, walk and pass by. The Washington Monument and Capitol building dome can be viewed from the property. Its position near the House office buildings gives CCS the opportunity to host well attended, important ministry events including:

• Politics and Principle Luncheons: Christian Members of Congress share testimonies with other Members, hill staffers and interns

• Bible Studies: Members of Congress, hill staffers and interns gather for study in the Bible

• Intern Events: Hundreds of interns gather to connect in a Christian environment

• Lecture Series: Key speakers share testimonies with the Capitol Hill community

• Outreach Events: To introduce unbelievers to the Christian faith

• Donor Events: To introduce friends of the ministry to Washington, D.C., to CCS outreach and to life in our nation’s capital

The Center will also provide space for offices and kitchen and dining room facilities.

The D. James Kennedy Library on Capitol Hill

D James Kennedy, Founder of Evangelism Explosion and the Center for Christian Statesmanship, had a profound love for

America and its Christian heritage. His memory will be honored and preserved at the Center in a library dedicated in his name. Original furniture from Dr. Kennedy’s office will be displayed, including the ministerial robe that he wore while preaching.

The Library will also provide an expansive collection of books and sermons that give evidence to Dr. Kennedy’s history including half a century of thorough, investigative study of the Bible. The Bible speaks clearly on the issues of our day, and the Library will contain volumes of information that provide biblical perspectives on matters of key cultural issues of the day.

The Library will serve as a source of study and research for thousands of hill staffers who work with Congressmen daily. It is these staff and legislative assistants, legislative counsels and chiefs-of-staffs who play key roles in work on Capitol Hill. These hill staffers may be behind the scenes, but they are the ones who write many of the bills that affect real-life citizens. Many of them will be our country’s leaders tomorrow.

They not only labor in congressional leadership offices to make a difference in the world, but also are being trained to share their faith and receive discipleship through The D. James Kennedy Center for Christian Statesmanship. The Library will serve as a voice for them to bring Christ to bear on the world, which was Dr. Kennedy’s passion. It will also touch the hearts of so many who loved and admired him.

The new, permanent Center is a stately row house on 402 New Jersey Avenue, SE.

This room will become the D. James Kennedy Library on Capitol Hill.

The courtyard will be useful for intern barbecues and other outdoor ministry events.
