The Gallagher Story
3. Horse receives short, safe and memorable shock when it touches the fence.
How Electric Fencing Works
SAFEHorses remember and develop a respect for the fence
DURABLEPressure on your fence is reduced so it lasts longer
EASY TO INSTALLLess than half the time to build vs a non-electric fence
ECONOMICALCosts less to build and maintain than a non-electric fence
1. Energizer (power) is connected to the fence and the ground.
2. Power is sent along the fence in pulses.
Welcome to Gallagher electric fencing.
My father pioneered the first Gallagher electric fencing system way back in the 1930’s and that spirit still drives us today as we promise to create solutions that make farming and ranch life easier, more efficient, productive and profitable. It’s decades of field expertise around the world that sets us apart and we’re constantly talking to customers every day and feeding that back into our extensive R&D team.
This brochure has been designed to help you find the right electric fencing solution to meet your needs but if you don’t find what you’re looking for then please speak to one of the friendly store staff and they will be happy to help you find a system that meets your needs.
Best regards,
Sir William Gallagher

Hot tips to make your fence safe and reliable.
Planning
Plan the number of pastures to allow for controlled, rotational grazing.
Create a center aisle to enable easy access for livestock checking.
Try to make pastures as square as possible for even grazing and to prevent trampling of the grass into well worn paths.
Grounding
Setting up a good grounding system is often overlooked but it’s a critical part of your electric fence system, as important as the wires and even the Energizer.
It’s how the power flows from the energizer, to the fence, through the animal and back through the ground to the energizer. Without good clean ground rods in sufficient size and number the ground connection doesn’t work and the shock will not reach the animal.
Please refer to the Power brochure for how to set up the right ground system for your electric fence.
Cut-out switch
Energizer
Protect Your Energizer
In areas where there is likelihood of small children unaware of the dangers of electric fencing, Gallagher recommends use of a small energizer (less than 0.5 Stored Joules) or connecting that section of fence through a Flood Gate Controller Energy Limiter.
G602000
G60400
Safety
On fences next to public access ways, Warning Signs must be fitted to the fence.
A Fence Fault Finder is an invaluable tool for locating shorts on the electric fence.
G650900
G607
Use a Cut Out Switch to turn off power to sections of fence for isolating faults and making repairs.

Attaching a Lightening Diverter to your system helps prevent Energizer damage during lightning strikes.
