ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Spudraincoat was the original Equilicuá compostable garment launched in 2009 based on the “cradle to cradle” sustainable concept. The creative inspiration was the Global Warming problem. So we tried to strengthen the focus of our claim turning the compostable poncho into a garment that can be planted into the soil and then become a tree.
Nengo Dango Ball:We decided to add clay balls called "nengo dango" into a pocket. This has its origin in the Japanese permaculture. The method to reforest arid land was invented by the farmer and philosopher Masanobu Fuokoka. We also decided to produce the product communication in most popular spoken languages in the world (English, Mandarin and Spanish) to spread our message as far as possible.

The Garden raincoat display is a new Equilicuá raincoats collection inspired in the “Back to the land” movement. There are 3 different models whose print reminds us of 3 of the freshest vegetables: tomatoes, carrots and peas. With each Garden Raincoat you will find a bag of seeds in a pocket so you can start your own vegetable garden at home. Through this project, the Equilicuá team tries to express concern about the damaging effects of pesticides, overuse of chemicals and use of GMOs.
Also, we want to make a point on the fact that the nation's food supply is controlled by a handful PGDPSQPSBUJPOTUIBUPGUFOQMBDFQSPmUCFGPSFconsumers’health. Back to the land is to come back to the natural way to feed ourselves.

a fashion project inspired in Bio-mimicry Re-Generation Raincoat
Equilicuá by Leyre Valiente x MATERIAL: Potato starch bio-plastic
with compostable European certificates
and eco-labels.Wicker marrow. Corn fibres
x ECO-DESIGN: Bio-mimicry conceptual
exercise. Organic and bio-mimetic shapes
with compostable materials.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Re-generation raincoat is an Equilicuá fashion project in collaboration with Leyre Valiente, a young designer who works for “Haute Couture meeting Art and Science Fiction” as she describes it. When Equilicuá found a picture
of her so-called "larvae" coat, we thought that this garment had all the potentials to become a whole bio-mimicry exercise.
So we began a bio-mimetic experience and got involved in designing other cool and organic clothes. The main aim was to observe nature first and later create. Why did we call this model “Re-generation”? On the one hand, the word “crisis” has its roots in the Greek word “chrysalis”. On the other hand we have the "crisis" in society's values today. We like the chrysalis because it is the end of life for the caterpillar but the beginning of a new life for the butterfly. That is the positive message that we want to transmit to the new generations as a challenge for a sustainable future. They need to assume changes trying to improve what they received from older generations in order to improve the beginning of a new era that is more sensible with the environment.
