Based on the EQ/OS 10 platform, the virtual Equalizer delivers the latest application traffic management features to handle the most sophisticated of your application delivery needs. Just like our hardware-based Equalizers, Equalizer OnDemand supports Envoy Global Server Load Balancing to manage the most advanced multi-location environments. Regardless of which product you choose, Equalizer always takes the complexity out of application traffic management. Equalizer OnDemand runs as a guest VM under any VMware HypervisorTM that supports Version 7 virtual machines. VLB Advanced - Comprehensive management of your virtual applicationsCoyote Point Equalizers with VLB monitor VMware vSphere (vCenter or ESX) to determine virtual machine status. Combining our proven application awareness expertise with VMware’s ability to monitor virtual servers and physical resource utilization allows higher application performance and availability to be achieved compared to load balancing and virtualization working independently.

Equalizer VLB utilizes VMware’s management APIs to retrieve the real-time virtual server performance information from VMware. This VMware information is combined with Coyote Point’s application and network aware capabilities to manage the traffic flowing to VMware Virtual Machines running on ESX server.

VLB Advanced with Smart Control scripting language extends VLB’s monitoring capabilities by providing proactive policy-driven control of VMware infrastructures. Smart Control automates VMware administration actions based on Equalizer events and triggers. Administrators can define threshold conditions for parameters that will trigger a VMware response. By crafting the appropriate Smart Control rules, administrators can cause VMware to spin up or tear down virtual machines to deal with changing traffic patterns. Define Smart Control rules to reboot servers hosting crashed applications. Ensure that application response times never exceed SLA limits. Use Envoy specific rules to build content and application delivery clouds. Smart Control can even use Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) to power down unused servers, and power them back on when workload requirements demand extra computing power.
