• My project title is ‘creation of a fan website’• Reasons for choosing this focus include a strong interest in web

design, graphic design and media in general• I also study A level media, plan to continue studying it at

university and eventually hope to have a career in the media industry

• Create a fully functioning website in the style of a fan site

• Expand existing HTML & CSS knowledge

• Further develop skills in editing software such as Photoshop

I utilized several different methods of planning for my project, these included:• to do lists• notes in my academic diary • Gantt chart

Planning

• Episode guides for each season – include a brief summary of each episode as well as the original airdate, the writer and the original broadcast figures.

• Character guides & trivia about the both the characters and the show in general.

• Fan mixes, fan fiction and fan art prompts.

• Context dependent

• Thumbnail images to ensure that the page is friendly for older browsers.

• This section contains articles, videos and downloads.

• It’s usually a very popular section of fan sites and is often built up through user contribution on a forum.

• Sometimes contains a gallery, however, due to developmental issues my website doesn’t.

In summary the primary aim of my project was to create a website. I achieved this aim by conducting appropriate research and adopting a variety of planning methods and sticking to them.

From my project I have learnt not only more about fan culture and the process of creating a website but also how to manage my time effectively, explore different planning methods such as Gantt charts, analyze research and organize my own workload.
